When it comes to engineering formwork for ambitious infrastructure projects, flexibility is a key requirement. HS2 is no different. Here’s how we accommodated two crucial site requests in collaboration with the BBV team at the Bromford Tunnel site: 1. We had to work around the overhead concrete beams which restricted crane access from above, making it extremely difficult to lift large formwork components in and out. The way around it? Our Engineering team used our SRU walers to mimic a ‘curtain rail’ function from which our formwork was suspended, making it easier for the site team to roll the shutters into position pour after pour. 2. Site space was tight, as the second TBM started cutting through the adjacent tunnel. Simultaneously, our VTC carriage had to accommodate multi-service vehicles that needed access through to the first tunnel to transport precast concrete segments. #infrastructure #construction #hs2 #constructionuk
