Today is the official Covid-19 Day of Reflection. It is five years since the pandemic hit the UK and today we remember and commemorate all those who lost their lives to Covid-19. Today is also an opportunity to reflect on the sacrifices made by many, the impact of the pandemic on us all and to pay tribute to health and social care staff, frontline workers and researchers whose work was so vital. It is also a chance to remember and thank all those who volunteered and showed acts of kindness during lockdowns.

Congratulations to Jennifer Shaw, for winning the Modern Apprentice Supervisor of the Year Award! Modern Apprenticeships are truly #MadeForBusiness, shaping the skills and confidence of our young workforce. This achievement wouldn’t be possible without the dedication and support of our incredible leaders, including Jennifer! Anna, her modern apprentice shared: “I came to the team to work with care packages and my supervisor Jennifer who from the get-go was welcoming and made me feel part of the team from my first day! "Her leadership style is one of a kind, we can have a laugh at work but also all work well as a team under stressful situations. "Jennifer's guidance and support has made all the difference in my growth within the council which has led me onto getting a permanent post as a senior clerical still in the health and social care department. "Every modern apprentice supervisor should get a reward for all the work they do for modern apprentices. I think Jennifer deserves the award because she is a superstar, and I don’t think I would’ve finished my apprenticeship without her.” Together, this exemplifies the power of mentorship and the bright future of apprenticeships.
