Congratulations to Catherine Marcus, co-CEO and global COO, on being named one of Barron's 100 Most Influential Women in U.S. Finance for the third consecutive year. Cathy’s leadership alongside her co-CEO Raimondo Amabile has been instrumental in maintaining the strength of our global platform through a structural down cycle in real estate over the last two years. As we enter a new cycle and transaction markets pick up momentum, Cathy’s award is recognition of the strength of that platform, and we believe it is well positioned to benefit from an upswing in investment activity. https://lnkd.in/duSCV4Z

Each year, PGIM brings together leaders from across our business for a day of strategy discussions to exchange ideas and viewpoints, aimed at positioning the organization for future growth. At this year's Pinnacle event, I sat down for a fireside chat with Pulitzer Prize-winning presidential historian and biographer Jon Meacham, who spoke candidly to our leaders about this moment in history. My first question to him was about the period of history that has the most interesting parallels to our current political climate and what can be learned from this. His response: The 1920s. He pointed out a decade defined by dramatic demographic shifts, disruptive technological advancements, and the rise of isolationist policies. Jon also highlighted that change in one direction often leads to powerful political counter reactions—in this case, a political response that led to the remaking of political parties and ultimately to the election of Franklin D. Roosevelt. We covered a great deal more on leadership of various presidents, and the enduring power, but fragility, of American democracy. Thank you to Jon for an encyclopedic knowledge of history and wonderful narrative skills that underscore for us the most important points for our times.
