**PHD Connect 2025: PHD UK unpacks the question ‘Is optimism dead?’** Today, PHD UK brought together clients, media partners and PHDers to explore the thought-provoking topic ‘Is optimism dead?’. PHD UK Chief Strategy Officer Eva Grimmett, and Head of Insight, Louise Twycross-Lewis, opened the event with the launch of new, proprietary PHD research into the subject, exploring how optimistic British consumers are feeling. They were joined later in the morning by PHD strategists Ben Harris, Megan Conneely, Lucy Collier, Tom Quinton & Tom Sheppey who presented what the research’s findings mean for brands and how they can leverage the power of optimism. PHD was also privileged to be joined by a collection of incredible speakers who then gave their expert perspectives on optimism through a range of different lenses: ➡️ Kevin Maguire (The Mirror) and Sam Lister (The Express) debated whether we should be optimistic about the current political and economic landscape. ➡️ 💥 Amy Kean 💥, CEO of Good Shout and best-selling author, shared her thoughts on optimism and the power of collective voices. ➡️ Phil Rowley, Head of Futures at Omnicom Media Group UK, explored how optimistic we should be about the role of technology in the future. ➡️ and Bruce Daisley, best-selling author of Fortitude and The Joy of Work, reflected on whether we should be optimistic about the future of work. Congratulations to Christian Fedorczuk, the newly appointed CEO of PHD MENA, bringing his global expertise and creative vision to lead the agency into its next phase of growth. With a career spanning over 20 years in media and creative industries, Christian has held leadership roles at Omnicom Media Group, Dentsu, and IPG, driving growth across key markets including London, LA, Tokyo, and Dubai. Notably, he spent a transformative decade at OMG, including time in Dubai from 2007 to 2010, fostering a deep understanding of the region’s unique dynamics. Most recently, he co-founded a design studio in Harajuku, collaborating with brands like Adidas, Red Bull, and Apple. In addition to Christian’s appointment, Karen Doumet and Daniel Shepherd will step into new roles.
