Today is a very special day in Sweden: Cinnamon Roll Day. We started celebrations early with our ‘Notes on Nature’ discussion on Sunday, which featured delicious buns courtesy of the Embassy of Sweden London, UK and the Cafe at the Swedish Church. Attendees enjoyed a touch of Swedish ‘fika’ as they enjoyed the buns and got involved in a discussion led by environmental experts including film maker Joakim Odelberg whose mesmerising films feature in several forthcoming concerts. We are delighted to have received confirmation that His Majesty King Charles III has retained his Patronage of the Philharmonia Orchestra. This follows a review of Patronages undertaken by Buckingham Palace, and an announcement to mark the first anniversary of Their Majesties' Coronation. Thorben Dittes, Chief Executive of the Philharmonia Orchestra, said, 'We are honoured that His Majesty will continue his long association with the Philharmonia, as we approach our 80th birthday in 2025. His Majesty's lifelong commitment to the importance of music in our cultural life was exemplified by the Coronation, where six members of the Orchestra were proud to play as part of the Coronation Orchestra.
