The 29th Conference of the Parties of the UNFCCC (COP29 Azerbaijan) starts today in Azerbaijan. It sees 198 countries gathering to negotiate plans and make commitments to tackle climate change. The focus this year will be on finance and the trillions required to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Scaling up investment in climate solutions is crucial to achieving net zero, and advocating for supportive policy and regulation is a big focus for Phoenix Group. Our 'Unlocking Investment in Climate Solutions' report, which can be read below, found that, with the right reforms and on the right terms for pension savers, the UK pension sector could quadruple its investment in UK climate solutions between now and 2035 to up to £1.2 trillion.
