This World Menopause Day, we wanted to acknowledge the many symptoms’ women may face because of the menopause - including anxiety, sleep disturbance and hot flushes. Often these symptoms have such a significant affect that they impact workplace performance and attendance* Employers should look to treat the menopause like any other condition, aiming to breakdown the stigma and create opportunities for women to seek help at work. The NHS* have suggested things employees and employers can do to help make the menopause more comfortable: • Flexible Working • Requesting alternative uniform • Utilising technology that helps to stay on top of ‘brain fog’ • Request any reasonable adjustments with your manager - regular breaks or more time to prepare before meetings Employers can also introduce wellbeing champions that look to support and raise awareness for employees who will be affected by the menopause. *CIPD 2023 https://buff.ly/4hfBwie. *NHS Inform 2023 https://buff.ly/4h8ewld
