Over the past 12 months Picture This and Maple Grove Developments have been working together on a town centre revitalisation proposal. The work was supported by a team of amazing people from JH Architects, CW Studio Ltd, enabl, Civic Engineers, Baltic Creative CIC, PLACED, Oxford Innovation and #republikofideas Framed by the Eric Wright Group and Picture This’ core values, alongside the ambition of the Local Authority and key stakeholders, the team came together to research, design and stress test a vibrant mixed use scheme delivering apartments, serviced accommodation, creative space, co-working, a futureproofed travel/car park hub, and 2.5 acres of public realm which included a new town centre park and rooftop community allotment. Running alongside was a community engagement strategy, support for local CICs, entrepreneurs, schools and work placed learning. Unfortunately we narrowly missed out and another developer was chosen, however we wanted to take this opportunity to showcase the team's incredible work and thank them for their commitment and passion over the past year. They totally nailed the brief 👏 Although the outcome was a blow, we are extremely proud of the collective work and the ideas and solutions that came from the process 💡👫 Nik Puttnam Shannon Conway Mike Nicholson Matthew Dixon Paul Harrison Andrea George Lucy Marshall Jo Harrop Stephen O'Malley Lynn Haime

Picture This want people to find that by living in a thoughtfully created space, they support the things that matter – our environment, wellbeing, supporting local communities and economies, inclusion, permanence.

Thinking differently… Last week Shannon Conway sat on a panel at the Place North West RESI conference. She was asked what she believed all developers should be doing, and what Picture This was doing differently. We support the premise that all new homes should be delivered to M4 (2) standards. This increases the chances of people being able to stay in their home if they need to make accessiblity-related adaptations. We’d also love to see all developers enaging with the Guide to Creating Age Friendly Developments. Last year, we contributed our thoughts to this Greater Manchester Combined Authority Ageing Hub’s developer toolkit. It’s a short, easily readable document that provides guidance on how we can make new homes suitable for all age demographics. There are some easy wins which could make a huge difference to people’s lives. We use this guide to underpin the design of all Picture This schemes 👇👇👇. https://lnkd.in/ezij7hjv Picture This Commitment: All our homes are M4 (2) standard and 10% of apartments are M4 (3) wheelchair adaptable. We also consider neurodiversity when approaching the design of our spaces. Congratulations to Progressive Living Developments, our JV partner in Stockport. We’ve seen how hard they’ve worked creating an attractive scheme offering a good alternative to traditional apartment rentals. They have some exciting ideas for the adjacent railway arches too 🤫
We are delighted to share the news that 'Enclave Salford' gained planning consent yesterday from Salford City Council. The co-living scheme will be a first for the Salford and provide much needed entry level city centre accommodation for young professionals. Huge thanks to our development team which includes BDP (Building Design Partnership Ltd), Turley, Zerum, RENAISSANCE STRUCTURES (RSL-UK) LIMITED, NOVO Integration Ltd, Exterior Architecture Ltd, OFR Consultants, Eddisons, ERAP (Consultant Ecologists) Ltd, Hann Tucker Associates, and Hydrock, now Stantec. More to follow, but in the meantime you can get all the info in the article below... https://lnkd.in/eiVfcN3e

🗣️ “Theatre plays such an integral part of who we are as a society, because as humans I think it's built in us that we need to tell stories, and theatre allows you to do that. It allows you to see and be seen. And so why it's important in towns is because it's your community represented on stage” - Melanie Lewis, outgoing CEO Shakespeare North Playhouse 🦻🏻This podcast episode delivers a captivating deepdive into the role performing arts can play in regeneration, using Mel’s experience at Shakespeare North Playhouse in Prescot as a backdrop. For Accessible Homes Week Housing LIN asked us to write a blog explaining why we made the decision to deliver 10% wheelchair adaptable M4 (3) apartments on all Picture This schemes. It’s not as simple as just following guidance, the whole team needs to be onboard. At Stockport, without the the buy in from Progressive Living Developments, AEW Architects, Zerum, and re-form Landscape Architecture Ltd it just wouldn’t be possible to do it the right way. Fantastic blog about the Greater Manchester Combined Authority approach to ageing well, written by Mark Hammond for Centre for Ageing Better. The blog refers to the GMHPA’s ‘Creating Age-Friendly Developments’ guide, which we have firmly embedded into the Picture This approach 🤝. The guide is for developers, designers and policymakers, setting out 62 considerations for ensuring ALL new residential developments and urban regeneration initiatives can better serve the needs and aspirations of older people. The guide, which is supported at a senior GM level, covers three core themes – celebrating and including older people in the development process, planning age-friendly neighbourhood environments, and designing homes that promote ageing well. https://lnkd.in/e4tFxFuY Nicola Waterworth Paul McGarry Kelly-Marie Rodgers Nigel Saunders Kathryn Fox-Rogers Jeremy Porteus Shannon Conway Mike Nicholson Caroline Simpson Andrew McIntosh

We’ll be doing this more often…… We had a great day at Stockport’s Makers’ Market last weekend. Alongside Progressive Living Developments, we were listening to local residents’ views about our proposed Picture This > Stockport scheme. Lots of positive feedback about the inclusive design, insights from local residents that will be useful for our management strategy, and some brilliant ideas for the community spaces. We’ll be doing this again throughout the course of the development to make sure the community (residents and businesses) will be positively affected by our arrival in their space.
