High Speed Inspection Tool Trial Pigtek have successfully completed an inspection tool trial scope for one of our Norwegian clients this week. The scope involved providing a scaled down in length replica of the subsea pipeline system which incorporated all the pipeline architecture. Pigtek then delivered a pumping spread sufficient in size to propel the inspection tool at speeds of 3 meters per second through the mock pipeline system. This is a big ask when performing this in a 20” & 24” diameter pipeline system, where a flowrate of 2600m3/hr is required. Multiple successful runs completed, provided our client with all the necessary data needed. Big achievement and maybe an industry first, thanks to everyone involved.

One of my greatest memories on site is supervising and implementing the crucial and intensive marine works at Veolia's Barka IWP in the last 5 years. Barka Desalination Plant has a state-of-the-art pigging system that removes marine materials such as seashells from the intake pipes, to reinstate their initial performance. Failing to remove these materials can increase piping head loss and limit the maximum flow, which can negatively impact the long-term performance of the intake pipes & the plant. By utilizing pigging solutions from Pigtek Ltd, Barka IWP has reduced HSE risks associated with diving works inside the pipe and outdated manual cleaning methods. These solutions have been implemented within a limited time frame without affecting production. The first stage involves Foam Pigging, which breaks down high-volume marine growth. You can see in the video how the foam pig floats when it is ejected from the pipeline. The next stage is the Scraper Pig, which scrapes the internal diameter of the pipe, restoring it to its initial condition as much as possible. You can see how much debris it scraps off the pipe and how the pig comes out of the clean pipeline. #GreenUp #EcologicalTransformation #VeoliaNearAndMiddleEast #Oman

As presented at this years PPSA event in Aberdeen. Pigtek have some great solutions to ensure operational pigging in complex multi diameter pipeline systems can be conducted without impact to production. See the attached video of our 16"/24"/34" pigging operation we perform here in the UK for the last 2 years to maintain the pipeline now and into the future.
