A climate campaign for plant-based catering across the University of Cambridge.

About us

Plant-Based Cambridge is a student-led climate campaign calling for the University of Cambridge to follow its own scientific research and transition to 100% plant-based catering. To avert the climate crisis, the world’s top centres of education need to reject the emissions and injustice perpetrated by animal agriculture. Transitioning to a plant-based food system would reduce greenhouse gas emissions from agricultural production in high-income countries by 61% [1], as well as freeing up 76% of global farmland for rewilding [2]. Our campaign focuses on promoting the benefits of a plant-based diet, demonstrating how plant-based catering can be just and accessible to all, and working with the university to implement a fairer and planet-friendly food system. Plant-Based University campaigns are taking place in almost 80 UK and international universities, with students coming together to demand climate action from their institutions.
