🏆 🙌 Two years. Two award ceremonies. Twice nominated. 🏆 🙌 It was the Midlands Marketing Awards on Thursday. We were shortlisted for Agency Team of the Year again. We may have mentioned it once or twice ;) But. It wasn’t to be our night. Another team took the prize. We congratulate them. And PLOTT will be back. We weren’t disappointed for long however. The food, drink and entertainment took care of that. As always, MMA put on a fabulous night. In a room full of creative talent from across the Midlands there really aren’t any losers. Congratulations indeed, to everyone shortlisted. It’s a really good networking opportunity too. It’s great to catch up with so many creatives from all across the industry. Who knows? Meet Clements + Church, our wonderful, friendly and fashionable new client. They’re a custom-made, premium fashion brand. ✨ We’ve been discussing their branding and planning a new website with them, which is all very exciting. And they’d visited us at our lovely offices at Coppice in Middleton. So now it was time to visit them. We wanted to get a feel for the tangible, real-world Clements + Church. We met in their first and flagship tailor shop on Church Street (naturally), just off Colmore Row. But with four PLOTTERS and three from C+C we were becoming a bit of a nuisance. There’s important work to be done! So we decamped to the impressive and truly grand, Grand Hotel. Handily it’s right across the street. What a lovely and comfy location for a meeting. We’ll always get the work done, but at times it felt like we were just having tea with some friends. What a lovely way to work. #NewFriends #Teamwork #Branding

Today we're celebrating Roald Dahl, by picking our favourite stories. He was an extraordinarily prolific author, publishing over 37 novels for children. In his lifetime he was also an RAF fighter ace, and wrote the screenplays for Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and the James Bond movie, You Only Live Twice. Life begins at 40, or so they say. If that’s true, Mark Christian’s been a PLOTTER his whole life! Mark’s been with us for 8 years, though between you and me, he looks older than 8. That’s 56 in dog years. I asked Mark for a quote, but he just grumbled something about spending 20% of his life at PLOTT. In this day and age, 8 years with one company is impressive. Mark must be doing something right—I really should ask him what. We must be doing something right too. A high staff turnover can be costly and a sign of poor culture. Remember when print was a thing. “Everything” is digital now. It can be a bit ... sterile. But print has it all. It's all about feeling, literally. A tactile experience. We even love the smell. The phrase “client retention” is just the kind of business-speak jargon that sends me to sleep. But it describes a rather lovely thing. That your client loved what you did, and came back for more! In this case the client is SW Group - Pallet Network | Warehousing. We built their website and have maintained it over the last five years. Five years is a good innings for a website, and we do recommend replacing your site every five years or so. Because the code gets out-of-date compared to the infrastructure, and all the patches and security hotfixes are good and necessary. But eventually you’re papering over cracks. And SW Group had evolved since 2019, so the website didn’t fully reflect their business as it is today. We recommended a replacement site, based on the above and – sensible fine folk that they are – they agreed. First we started with refreshing their brand identity. Followed by a shoot at their depots with lovely authentic real-life photos and videos of their people. All new copywriting throughout the Google-friendly website and a lovely new design. All of which lives on our “PLOTT OS”, the software that runs the website. Fast, secure, accessible, as all our sites are. Ready to go for the next five years! Got a web project in mind? I've got the Power! Cut. We love references to 80s bangers, but what we really love is electricity to power our computers. Well, there's no sense worrying about it, as they say, "If wishes were horses, beggars would ride." Today, we're beggars. So we'll embrace the stone-age and spend the time productively and together, using just our brains. We split the team, with half the PLOTTERS off to the Belfry to meet with a client while the Devs stayed at The Fig & Olive for some planning and process improvement. While all this was going on Mark was writing. This very post, as a matter of fact. Old school pen and paper. We may lack power but we're not powerless.
