What is Film Tax Relief? Film Tax Relief (FTR) allows film production companies to claim a significant enhancement of their core UK expenditure which can potentially be surrendered for a payable tax credit from HMRC, providing a substantial financial boost. This relief is available for films that are intended for theatrical release, and the production must pass the British Film Institute’s cultural test or qualify as an official co-production. By claiming FTR, studios can offset production costs, enabling them to reinvest in their projects and drive further growth. This scam looks very similar to an official HMRC letter but uses a non-gov email address. 🔍 How to Protect Yourself: ▪️ Double-check email addresses—HMRC will always use a .gov.uk ending. ▪️ Look out for distorted logos or unusual formatting. ▪️ Google the sender's address to verify its authenticity. ▪️ Never click on links in emails or texts from unknown sources.
