Investing in the Future: Pobl’s Commitment to Apprenticeships in Construction At Pobl, we recognise that apprenticeships are key to building a skilled, sustainable workforce. Our recent partnership with Hale Group Ltd at the Gwynfaen development in Penyrheol is a testament to our commitment. Here, apprentices like Morgan and Leo are gaining hands-on experience with innovative green technologies and developing practical skills that will shape their future careers in construction. With the construction industry facing a skills shortage, we’re proud to play our part in closing the gap by offering apprenticeships that blend on-site learning with industry-recognised qualifications. In the last six months alone, we’ve supported 32 apprentices across multiple sites, helping them become the tradespeople of tomorrow. Our annual Pobl Care Manager’s Day took place earlier this month, bringing together our incredible Care management team. This year’s event took place at The Lysaght in Newport and following our run of outstanding CIW reports, the theme was “excellence”. This year, we incorporated interesting presentations, a number of educational and informative break-out sessions and a brand new awards ceremony. 🌿 Pobl Gets Green Light for Ambitious Retrofit at Sunny Hill 🌿 We're thrilled to share that planning approval has been granted for our £2.5M Optimised Retrofit Programme at Sunny Hill in Llanelli! This transformative project, partly funded by the Welsh Government’s Optimised Retrofit Programme, will help reduce carbon emissions and lower fuel bills for Pobl's residents through energy efficiency upgrades like external wall insulation, replacement windows, and PV panels with battery storage. Patrick Stone, Asset Manager at Pobl, adds: “Making our homes greener is vital to addressing both climate change and fuel affordability. With Pobl Care’s drive to innovate and break down digital isolation, Lynne Whistance, our Inclusion and Assistive Technology Officer, has been working with the residents at Plas Y Mor, our Extra Care service in Burry Port. With support from Cwmpas' Digital Communities Wales and to coincide with Good Things Foundation's ‘Get Online Week’, Lynne joined the Extra Care service’s weekly coffee morning to talk about how increasing their use of technology could help them maintain their independence for longer. Lynne plans to run weekly sessions there over the next few months, which will allow everyone an opportunity to get involved, ask questions and reduce the anxiety that can come with technology.
