The truth is - Going it alone can be overwhelming. As a dyslexic founder of a marketing consultancy, I've faced unique challenges due to my condition. But thanks to mentors who believed in me, I've built a successful business helping founders deliver marketing results. My natural next step was to give back and get qualified myself. Today, I'm proud to be both mentee and mentor, part of a chain of support that strengthens UK business as a whole. Mentoring isn't just about guidance—it's about unlocking potential. I've seen firsthand how it can turn struggling startups into tech business powerhouses. To all my mentors and fellow ILM Students - Your wisdom has been my secret weapon. Thank you!! To my mentees - Your drive inspires me daily. Keep pushing boundaries! Has mentoring had a positive impact on you and your business? Share your story on #NationalMentoringDay! Proud member of the Association of Business Mentors (ABM) #MentoringMatters #MadebyDyslexia Thanks to Chelsey Baker, Naomi Lawton, Luke Junior, Sian Keen, Elizabeth Takyi (BA Hons PGcert), Barbara Lunnon, Julian Scott-Reid, Muhammad Malik, Oreste Maspes MSc DigM, Harriet Davis, Liahna Harvey-May, Chris Parker, Maria Tjader, Chris Lawson, Patrick Bowyer, Mazen Assaf, Benoit Collin, Ben Cosbie Ross, Louise Talintyre, Chris Dicker, David George.

We have to move beyond hockey stick growth. ✓ It's just not sustainable environmentally and economically. Let's talk about a marketing approach that's good for your business 𝗔𝗡𝗗 the planet. In years of guiding companies through the maze of market challenges, I've seen countless 'cool' growth strategies come and go. But one thing remains clear: Sustainable growth beats a flash in the pan. So I've developed a framework called S-GROW: 𝗦 - 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗰 - Set clear, long-term goals aligned with your values - Understand your market position and growth potential - Plan for sustainable success, not just quick wins 𝗚 - 𝗚𝗲𝗻𝘂𝗶𝗻𝗲 - Focus - Identify your core audience and offerings - Be useful and helpful - Don't try to be everything to everyone - Concentrate resources where they matter most 𝗥 - 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗯𝗹𝗲 - Awareness - Understand business and your impact on both customers and the environment - Stay informed about changing market conditions and societal needs - Be conscious of the message you're sending with your marketing 𝗢 - 𝗢𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗶𝘀𝗲𝗱 - Precision - Use data to inform decisions, not just gut feelings - Targeted efforts deliver greater efficiency - Minimise waste in your marketing spend 𝗪 - 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗵𝘄𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗲 - Impact - Measure success beyond just revenue - consider customer satisfaction, retention, and environmental footprint - Aim for long-term, sustainable relationships and results - Create value that extends beyond your bottom line This isn't about explosive numbers that look good on a pitch deck. It's about building a resilient business that can weather economic storms and contribute positively to the world. Could S-GROW be useful in your business? #SGROW #SustainableMarketing #GrowthWithPurpos

A story of Resilience, Growth and Gratitude. This month marks a significant milestone - Polything's 5th anniversary. As I reflect on this journey, I'm filled with gratitude and a sense of accomplishment. Rarely has it been smooth sailing, but the challenges we've overcome have made us better. In these 5 years, we've weathered: - A global pandemic - 1 economic downturn (including several zero-revenue months) - 2 life-threatening family illnesses - 4 Prime Ministers - Numerous personal accidents and setbacks - Countless moments of self-doubt on my part Despite these hurdles, Polything has not only survived but evolved and stayed true to our mission. I'm particularly happy that it has delivered on my initial personal goal: To spend more time with my family while giving me a new adventure. They say, "It takes a whole village to raise a child." I think it is the same with a business; they are not created and do not thrive in a vacuum. This journey wouldn't have been possible without our clients, and the unwavering support and sage advice from so many remarkable people. This achievement is as much yours as it is ours: Chris Lawson, Dr Rob Milford, Naomi Lawton, Ray Lavery, Julian Scott-Reid, Chris Dicker, Sam Griffin, Heba Dawood, Mark Tooby, Matt Rowe, Carla Faria, Gordon Carmichael, Nick Booth, Anna Rodriguez, and Bilal Abood - thank you all for being a big part of the adventure. I've learned that adaptability and a strong support network are key to resilience. These five years have been a testament to the importance of surrounding yourself with good people. I'm excited to see what the next five years holds! #Entrepreneurship #Resilience #Gratitude

The power of unplugging - why business owners need holidays too. I just returned from my first break in a while, and wow - what a difference it makes! As a dyslexic founder of a small marketing consultancy, I know firsthand how challenging it can be to step away. The voice in your head whispers, "Can I really afford to take time off?" But here's what I've learned: 1. 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗺 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗹𝗲 𝗶𝘁 —A huge shoutout to my amazing colleagues Anna, Bilal and all our contractors for holding down the fort. Having a reliable team makes all the difference. 2. 𝗖𝗹𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗱 - Our fantastic clients were supportive of my time away. Remember, they're human too and value work-life balance. 3. 𝗙𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗵 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗶𝗻𝘃𝗮𝗹𝘂𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 - New sights and experiences are food for the mind and soul. I've returned brimming with creativity and inspiration. 4. 𝗬𝗼𝘂'𝗿𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗯𝗮𝗯𝗹𝘆 𝗱𝗼𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗺 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝗻 𝗴𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗯𝘆 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝘁𝗮𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗯𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗸𝘀 - Burnout is real, and it doesn't serve you, your team, or your clients. 5. 𝗘𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗱𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗲𝘀 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝗼𝗳𝗳 - Yes, even (especially!) entrepreneurs and small business owners. My takeaway? Even if you think you can't go on holiday, do it. The benefits far outweigh any temporary setbacks. Your business will thank you, and so will your mental health. When was the last time you took a real break? How did you find it impacted your work and mindset? Let me know in the comments! 👇 #WorkLifeBalance #EntrepreneurLife #MentalHealth #MarketingLife
