Hanging out with the luxury yachts at Marina del Rey, looking for friends in all the wrong places, meet the GEMpsu by Power Gems – a variable voltage power supply (range 12-48V) with a difference. Most LED power supplies are fixed voltage, so the advantage of GEMpsu is that you always have the right supply voltage available, no matter what LED ribbon you’re using. Or viewed another way, you only need to carry one supply. Maximum power is 150W, sufficient to drive 2x 5m ribbons in most cases, dual outputs, and additionally, it has a 5V 1A auxiliary for phone charging, extra devices, etc. Get early access to the GEMpsu – we’re building a waiting list for the first batch, coming early 2025.

Today’s mood – boosted. Think: meditation, green tea and crystals? None of that: Our new GEMboost does exactly what you expect: boost 2.5-6V from a Li-ion Cell or USB Power Bank to a fixed 12V supply for up to 15W of compact built-in power. Perfect for when a mains PSU or 12V battery isn’t available and small enough to build into props. The circuit is protected against excessive input voltage, output current, and temperature; it will deal with the harsh operating conditions on a film and TV sound stage. It’s never tired, overstretched or feeling stuck; let’s face it, couldn’t we all do with a little boost?

We’re excited to see these beginning to ship. The GEM6mini is a super-compact 6-channel LED controller with an input range of 12V to 24V for full-colour LED control or three channels of bi-colour. Look at the generous screen size on our smallest product; it comes with comprehensive overcurrent protection and hardwired DMX. We've squeezed so many features into such a small space that you can almost hear the pips squeak. It's so tiny that it shouldn't be allowed out alone. What has the future in store?
