Empowering Communities To End Youth Violence UK Registered Charity - 1181143
About us
Power the Fight was founded by Ben Lindsay out of a deep belief in the value of human life and the importance of community. It is a response to a growing need for all parts of society to take responsibility for one another. Most of our work is with families, churches, faith groups and community organisations who want to be equipped to engage with youth violence issues in their context. We do this in a number of ways: 1. Training and workshops At Power the Fight we have access to the leading thinkers and practitioners from a range of disciplines working in the field youth violence. Since the beginning of 2019 we have trained and equipped over 8000 organisations and individuals to make a difference to young people’s lives including the NHS, Schools, Faith groups, Charities, local authorities and more. For more information go to Training and Events. 2. Resources At Power The Fight we have developed resources to help organisations, faith and community groups to better understand the youth violence issue. These include specialist PowerTalks, links to helpful websites and toolkits. For more information go to PowerTalks and Resources. 3. Building Connections At Power The Fight we bring community groups together with local authorities, services and other partners to promote mutuality, improve cohesion and effect change. For more information on how we can serve you go to Bespoke Programmes. We invest the money we raise into equipping communities to build sustainable, community-owned projects that promote peace and end youth violence. To support our work please donate today. 4. Families At Power The Fight we support families impacted by youth violence. We do this in partnership, providing access to culturally competent therapeutic, financial and legal support. We have also developed our Therapeutic Intervention for Peace programme (TIP) which is now being piloted across London to provide culturally competent therapy to young people, families and frontline staff.

CEO/Founder, Power The Fight, Best Selling Author. KPMG Black Entrepreneurs’ Award Winner Most Promising Not For Profit Organisation 2024. Charity Times Charity of the Year 2023. PhD candidate Durham University.
The most promising not-for-profit-business title went to Ben Lindsay OBE, founder at award-winning charity Power The Fight. The charity works to tackle violence affecting young people, working to connect policy-makers with communities and to create long-term solutions. Ben said: “I’m so excited that we’ve had this opportunity, it’s going to mean so much to us as a small charity to be associated with KPMG, but also the money makes such a difference to our digital offer which is going to impact young people and our training up and down the country.” https://lnkd.in/e5yQ2-fR

What a fantastic evening yesterday at the KPMG Black Entrepreneurs’ Awards 2024. Founded by Olu Odubajo, this was the fifth year of the awards and we have so far supported 48 Black heritage founders, providing over £650,000 worth of investment into the programme. It was great hearing the pitches from all of the finalists, you could tell just how passionate they all were by the energy of their delivery when they were telling us about their businesses. The judges certainly had a tough job choosing the winners but ultimately four entrepreneurs stood out. A huge congratulations to Ayan Mohammed, founder of Digitech Oasis for winning the most promising large business category, Anita Frost, founder of Green Bean Studios for winning the most promising medium business category, Yasmin Greenaway, founder of dermie.AI for winning the most promising small business category and Ben Lindsay OBE, founder of Power The Fight for winning our most promising not-for-profit business category. I really enjoyed hearing from our speakers and panellists. The keynote speech from Casyo Johnson was genuinely inspiring, hearing about his perseverance and motivation behind creating the super successful Nala's Baby. Listening to him speak alongside previous BEA winners Dami Hastrup and Mary A. was a treat for those in the room. I’m looking forward to seeing how all of our finalists get on while they participate in a 12 month KPMG acceleration programme. Thanks to our hosts for the evening, Toluwani Adefeso and Uzoma Mezue who both did a super job on the night, our judges, and everyone who supported in making the event a success.

Establishing a business is challenging at the best of times, but the obstacles are even more pronounced for some. Black entrepreneurs in the UK receive a disproportionately low amount of venture capital investment, estimated to be less than 1%. As a business leader, I’m hugely passionate about tackling inequality, so I’m delighted to see KPMG UK’s Black Entrepreneurs’ Awards announce their latest winners. A huge congratulations to: 🏆 Ayaan Mohamed Ali, Founder of Digitech Oasis – Most Promising Large Business 🏆 Anita Frost, Founder of Green Bean Studios – Most Promising Medium-sized Business 🏆 Yasmin Greenaway FRSA, Founder of dermie.AI – Most Promising Small Business 🏆 Ben Lindsay OBE, Founder of Power The Fight – Most Promising Not-for-Profit Business Founded by Olu Odubajo, and now in its fifth year, our awards connect innovative start-ups with access to vital funding, mentorship and skills workshops. As the huge volume of applications goes to show, there’s no shortage of incredible and innovative individuals ready to challenge the status quo and explore new solutions. I'm thrilled our firm will work with all of this year's finalists to help them grow their businesses through our 12-month acceleration programme. I can't wait to hear how they all get on and I hope to see them go from strength to strength. The work never stops. At Power The Fight we always try to foreground the voices of the community. Today we concluded a 2 year project engaging with families who have lost young people to violence in partnership with South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust. It’s been a privilege to see and hear the experiences of parents and carers. We hope that we can take these experiences to help improve the lives of young people, support families, advocate for system change and empower communities. Much love and gratitude to the participants and our teams for creating such a healing space. ❤️

💥Burnout in professionals💥 Burnout is something that many professionals are facing today. At Power the Fight we believe it is important for professionals to Pause, Protect, Practice and Play as it serves our holistic wellbeing.✨ Rest is not a reward in exchange for your exhaustion. You are worthy of it now. You don’t have to wait until it hurts. Slow down long enough to reclaim yourself today. ~ Cole Arthur Riley Sometimes it’s about working smarter, not harder.

💥Body Keeps The Score💥 Burnout and stress don’t just affect your mind—they live in your body. Let’s make our wellbeing a priority by releasing the physical weight of stress. ✨ Box Breathing: Breathe in for 4 seconds, hold for 4, exhale for 4, and pause for 4. Repeat. This simple technique can activate your parasympathetic nervous system, reducing anxiety and stress. 🌿 Nature Break: Take a short walk outdoors, even just for 10 minutes. Feel the air, observe your surroundings, and get some natural light exposure. Studies show that being in nature can decrease cortisol levels and improve mood. 💆 Body Scan: Mentally scan your body from head to toe, noticing where you hold tension and consciously letting it go.

💥Supporting Families💥 Let’s recognise the weight we carry, reclaim our rest, and uplift the wisdom of our elders and the power of our young people’s voices in finding ways to navigate our struggles. #RestIsResistance #CommunityCare Tips for Tough Times: * Set clear intentions and priorities for your day * Make time for family and self-care * Practice compassionate time management * Break your day into manageable tasks * Be gentle with yourself if things don’t go as planned * Mindful mornings: Try a brief meditation, prayer or gratitude practice to ground yourself.

💥Burnout in Young People💥 Burnout isn’t just an adult issue—it’s impacting our children and teens too. With constant pressures from school, social media, and growing expectations, many young people are feeling emotionally, physically, and mentally drained. 😔💭 While stress might be temporary, burnout sets in when that stress becomes constant, leading to feelings of disconnection, lack of motivation, and even difficulty managing daily activities. As part of our focus on youth well-being, we’re shedding light on the signs of burnout among children and teens. It’s okay to slow down. It’s okay to ask for help. Let’s create spaces where young people can recharge, feel supported, and thrive. Together, we can help them build resilience and prioritize self-care. ✨ #Worldmentalhealthday
