The theme for International Day of Forests 2025 is ‘forests and food’. Our partners the Woodland Trust know that trees, woodlands and farms can work together for a sustainable future. The Trust works with farmers and landowners to integrate trees into farms, and develop agroforestry practices which support farm resilience and nature restoration. It’s been quite a week with some of the Premier Paper Group Ltd and WBC marketing team breaking away from the office and going further afield (quite literally) to explore and participate in some sustainability initiatives. Ellie Harrop and Elizabeth Dodd BSc MSc attended a tree planting day and got stuck into building their support structures too. It was hard work, super fun... and an amazing way to grow our future. We can’t wait to revisit the site to see how the young birches are doing. Additionally, Eve Reid, Emma Cyrus and Rebecca A. attended a paper appreciation course in Apsley and were lucky enough to visit the Frogmore Paper Mill, where the world’s first ever paper making machine was used. The experience included a ride on a barge and a glimpse into the ingeniousness of those who enabled us to appreciate, amongst other things, a jolly good book! We also heard that Tom Hardy filmed there – and, with its illustrious history and old-world charm, we could absolutely see why.
