The only UK charity funding ground-breaking research solely aimed at preventing breast cancer for future generations.
About us
Predict. Prevent. Protect. You could call it our mantra. As the only UK charity entirely dedicated to the prediction and prevention of breast cancer, we’re committed to freeing the world from the disease altogether. Unlike many cancer charities, we’re focused on preventing, rather than curing. Promoting early diagnosis, screening and lifestyle changes, we believe we can stop the problem before it starts. And being situated at the only breast cancer prevention centre in the UK, we’re right at the front-line in the fight against the disease. Breast cancer is the most common cancer for women in the UK. We promote healthier lifestyles, early diagnosis and collaborate with others to influence change in breast cancer services. Breast cancer is a devastating disease that affects too many people – the patients, their families, friends and colleagues. It is a disease that can often be cured if caught early and suitable treatments are prescribed. But what if there was no need for the cure? There was no diagnosis, no before or after breast cancer. What if people could live their lives safe in the knowledge that it would never happen to them. Every year, in the UK, over 55,000 individuals are diagnosed – 150 people a day. And every year, we lose 11,500 to this disease. We predict – by identifying who is at risk of breast cancer We prevent – by offering preventative interventions, to stop breast cancer before it starts We protect – our goal is to shield future generations from breast cancer We know we can put an end to this devastating disease. But we need your support. Together we can protect our future generations. Together we can PREVENT BREAST CANCER.

Breast cancer does not discriminate and can affect anyone, but research has found that women from ethnic communities reported lower attendance for breast cancer screening. This lower uptake of breast screening may be due to cultural and language barriers. When Roma Das was diagnosed with breast cancer, she found some of her family and friends really struggled to talk about it: 🗣️ "For me personally it wasn't the fact that I had cancer that made it difficult to tell my family. But a lot of people in the Asian community that I know struggled to use the word. My parents' friends would ask me how my 'illness' was. They'd never just say cancer." At Prevent Breast Cancer, we're concerned to see such disparities in breast cancer screening attendance. As part of our ongoing work in health inequalities, we will be partnering with other organisations to ensure our message reaches all communities, empowering women to know what’s normal for them. #ethnicminoritycancerawarenessmonth #cancerawareness #breastcancer

👨🔬 Meet the scientist - Mr Rajiv Dave Rajiv focuses on the development of global partnerships in breast cancer and is passionate about the artistry of breast surgery. Outside his clinical work, he loves creating wildlife art, inspired by his upbringing in Kenya. 🗣️ "Growing up in Kenya, I was surrounded by inspiration, and I paint from both photos and memory. I have spent countless hours in Safari parks observing animals, especially elephants, which are my favourite subject. I truly enjoy being able to minimise the psychological impact of surgery by using my art background in the planning and execution of reconstructive breast surgery." Interested in learning more? Prevent Breast Cancer reposted this
Women’s health, preventive care and breast health all scored victories with a special event hosted on June 29 by Hologic and the WTA Foundation at the tournament in Eastbourne, UK. We helped raise awareness about the importance of regular health screenings with breast cancer survivors from the nonprofit group Prevent Breast Cancer, who learned tennis from coaching legend Judy Murray.
