Is it beginning to feel a lot like Christmas? One of the joys of working in print is that you never know what's around the corner. It could be an appointment card for a salon, a perfect bound product brochure, magnetic swipe cards, holographic labels or exterior signage – yes, we produce all sorts! The variety of projects in both physical size and number of pages, differing interpretations of 'print-ready artwork' that get supplied (don't get me started 🤣), or the numerous counties – or even countries – that we send orders to, keep us on our toes and engaged throughout each and every day. Despite that, imagine our surprise to receive an order in February for a Christmas event – we're a good month away from Easter and here is the first festive order! My initial reaction was that it was an order from last year that got trapped in a server bottleneck somewhere. I've seen artificial Christmas trees on sale in June before, but this is a record-breaker! There's nothing like a bit of forward planning, but we equally love your last-minute panics. The great escape! Prints Regent closes for the Christmas break at 5pm today and we'll be back on Monday 6th January 2025. It has been an incredible year for us, culminating with an award for our customer service. We would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our clients, not only for their support, but also for their patience towards the end as we have struggled to keep up with demand. Their loyalty means so much to us 🙏. Although we are officially closed, we will use this extended break to catch up with our digital services and hopefully, before the New Year, we will be moving into a new second unit. This will allow us to move 5 machines from the office to create some much needed space. One of the reasons for creating this space is that we are thinking of hiring a talented graphic designer to join our ranks. This will be a multi-functional onsite role to include print and finishing, with a view to management. By all means share/tag this post to inform anyone who may be interested. 🏆 WINNER: Customer Service Excellence 🥂🎉 A wonderful way to celebrate our 12th anniversary in business. At last month's Eastbourne Business Awards 2024, it was an absolute delight to win the Customer Service Excellence category.  The top four finalists (not all printers) were sent a mystery shopper to see if their customer service claims lived up to expectation. We have many glowing reviews on our website, and it was a few of our delightful clients who said we should put ourselves forward for the award. How right they were. Clients comment on our great quality of printing, speedy service, friendly and helpful manner. Our official opening hours are weekdays 9am to 5pm, but that doesn't mean we get weekends off. In order to meet a recent deadline, I drove the 104 miles one Sunday morning to deliver an order to Henley-on-Thames. We often deliver in person to Kent and London. Early starts, working late or delivering outside office hours, nothing is too much trouble. Every job is equally welcome, regardless of size or print run. Having our own equipment on-site means we can even offer same-day printing. Although our guillotine will cut a straight line across the width of a sheet, sometimes we need to cut a more complex shape. That’s where our digital cutter comes in handy. Ideal for: door hangers; brochures with pockets; flat sheet product boxes; divider tabs; custom-shape flyers and business cards; or for kiss-cutting labels like this example, where we’re only cutting the label layer and not through the backing sheet. Traditionally, a cutting forme is engineered for each job, adding roughly £100 to the job before the cutting even takes place. Although this method is still employed, it has its limitations. Forme storage space for one, and if the design doesn’t quite work, then a new forme needs to be made at additional cost. Welcome to the digital age. There’s no waiting around for a forme to be made and delivered, as the cutting knife (and scoring tool) is housed within the machine. By reading a QR code on the sheet, it knows where to score, crease, perforate and cut, and in which order. If the design doesn’t quite work, adjust your artwork, generate a new QR code, and try again moments later. You couldn't make it up... The Majestic Hotel, of Royal Parade, chose Prints Regent to print their menus. Maybe they saw our signs on the Sovereign Centre roundabout?
