Next Wednesday's budget is one of the most important and undoubtedly radical in years. With a big majority, the government can afford to upset groups in society—as it did with the winter fuel payments announcement—but how far will it go? What impact will it have on businesses? Will it affect big businesses or all businesses? Of course, if managed poorly, this budget's impact could see a fall in business and consumer confidence, jeopardising the economic recovery that is still taking place after the pandemic and the post-pandemic inflation. We'll watch intently on the day and post our thoughts, views, and insights. But what are your views? What are you expecting?

‘Gareth, leave a legacy, Stephen.’ Simple but powerful words that helped inspire our founder and CEO Gareth Burton to create Progress Accountants and our sister company Assure UK
Tomorrow is #EvaluateYourLifeDay I always think you start with 'To be the best resident you can be while you're on this planet.' In a world where we're constantly racing to achieve more, it’s easy to overlook what’s right in front of us. But being the "best resident" is about more than personal success; It's about positively impacting the world around you. Whether through your work, relationships or how you treat the environment, being present with others and giving your best in every moment truly matters. It's about leaving a lasting mark that goes beyond material achievements and truly connects with people and your surroundings. Dr. Stephen Covey’s words, which he inscribed in his book The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, always come to mind at moments like this, too. ‘Gareth, leave a legacy, Stephen.’ How do I evaluate my life? It's still a work in progress, and I look for the positives and learnings in each day. Wishing you all a great weekend.

We had to share this post from our Founder and CEO, Gareth Burton, about how he greets his Birthday each year. We're sharing it not because he's the boss (!), but because it is a lovely way to reflect on the past year, and by adding to that reflection each year, a subtle way to show more Progress (see what we did there? 😉 ) Happy Birthday, Gareth. We hope you have a great one, and we can't wait to read the 58 reflections this time next year. 😁
It's my birthday tomorrow! 🎈 🎂 🎉 Today is a day of reflection. I've done this for several years, and it's made me realise the importance of friends and family. I start with ten positive moments during the year. I started doing this when things were not so good in my life, just to say that things are not that bad. I then expand it to my age. This year, that's 57😱 Obviously, as the number increases, this becomes more challenging. However, you start focusing on the small things that make you happy. Those moments make you go, Wow. Times when you lose control and just start crying with laughter. Here are a few. -Seeing a performer crowd surf in Nashville when he was only 10 minutes into his 4-hour set; -DJ Burton hitting the decks on New Year's Eve! -Playing your best golf ever after being given two shots per hole! -Hello Mr Burton, you've been upgraded to a suite (Manchester United is staying here tonight)! -A basil cocktail - I didn't think that would be my favourite -Being unable to catch a fish in a fish farm! -A friend asked if I could take a picture of where I was so they could find us. So I did. I took a picture against a magnolia wall! -My daughter asked me to photograph her - so I did! Here is to year 57 of my life! Wishing you all a great weekend!
