“Simply put - Coral reefs and the waters around them underpin food and life in our oceans.”Excellent piece on an often overlooked ecosystem Melissa Wright
We’re learning more about coral reefs every day, and new science is emerging to show that coral reef resilience isn’t just limited to rare corals in underwater cool spots. In fact, many of the world’s reefs are defying predictions and recovering from major climate pressures in record time. This newfound hope for corals doesn’t mean we back down. On the contrary, we should ramp up our coordinated efforts to preserve our world’s reefs, knowing that with decisive action, we can save a great number of our world’s corals and the ecosystems they support. Antha N. Williams, Head of the Environment Program at Bloomberg Philanthropies, and Tim McClanahan, Director of Marine Science at the Wildlife Conservation Society, co-authored this important piece on reef resilience and what that means for marine conservation strategies moving forward. https://lnkd.in/eJKBtbgc
