Join our campaign for #plasticFreeRamadan in 2023 at the UK House of Lords hosted by Lord Newby OBE The workshop will help raise awareness, showcase successful pilot projects and explore various solutions to the challenges of single use plastic. This will be a great opportunity to network, exchange dialogue and ideas to become more sustainable. It will be a historical movement, as it is the first of it’s kind ever to be hosted at the House of Lords and we want you to be part of this.  Due to limitation of the capacity, please register early with the following details to avoid disappointment.  Full name of The Mosque/Institute: Full Address: Participants Full name: Position / Post Holder: Full Residence Address:  Email to info@pap.org.uk Please note - Due to the security at the House of Lords, all details must be provided to us by 15th Dec 2022. Only approved participants will receive a direct invite to attend the workshop. Please bring valid government issued ID when attending (Driving license or Passport) and always maintain security protocol once inside the premises.  #Plastic Free Ramadan is a campaign to raise awareness by engagement, education, and empowerment. It provides participants with the ability to seek alternatives against single-use plastic and become the community hub for encouraging conservation, recycling, and reusable water bottles.  #DidYouKnow One million single-use plastic bottles are bought around the world every minute & it takes about 450 years just for one plastic bottle to break down in the ground.  #PlasticPollution is one of the biggest threats to our environment, marine life and natural habitat- it has and can cause many known and unknown negative impacts in our health and well-being.  It is also discovered in our food cycle and new-born babies. We must take further responsibility of its usage and disposal.  In #Islam, #conservation of the environment and life is the duty of the custodian of the planet (mankind). This planet is a gift to us, and we need to play our part to help preserve the life in it.  #ProjectsAgainstPlastic is a registered charity and working in collaboration with Bristol Muslim Strategic Leadership Group (BMSLG) and thank you to the London Tea Exchange for sponsoring the event at the House of Lords. #recycling #leadership #opportunity #bethechangeyouwanttoseeintheworld #ReducePlastic #singleuseplastic

  • 🌿 A Positive Step Towards a Greener Bangladesh! 🌍 During a recent visit to one of Bangladesh's leading supermarkets, we saw a remarkable shift toward eco-friendly practices! 🛒 Instead of plastic packaging, the supermarket is embracing paper wraps, paper bags, and even the classic jute bags—a wonderful nod to the sustainable practices of the 1980s! 📦🌱 This conscious effort is a huge leap towards reducing single-use plastic, aligning with global environmental goals. Jute, often called the "golden fiber," is biodegradable and an integral part of Bangladesh’s heritage, making this initiative green and culturally significant. 🇧🇩💚 We extend our heartfelt appreciation to the businesses, stakeholders, and government for encouraging and implementing such sustainable alternatives. This positive action sets an inspiring example for other industries to follow, showing that together we can work toward a cleaner, healthier future for Bangladesh and the world. Let’s support and encourage more initiatives like this! 🙌💚 #SustainableBangladesh #EcoFriendly #PlasticFreeFuture #JuteRevolution #PaperNotPlastic

  • EBFCI Hosts Press Briefing in Bangladesh, Highlighting Trade, Investment, and Environmental Initiatives With a deep understanding of the industrial and market landscapes in Bangladesh and Europe, EBFCI plays a crucial role in raising awareness about Bangladesh's rapidly evolving economy. The federation is committed to showcasing business and investment opportunities to UK and European partners, ensuring that potential stakeholders stay informed about the changing economic landscape. The EBFCI boasts an impressive membership base that spans across several countries, including the Netherlands, Belgium, England, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Scotland, Spain, Sweden, and Bangladesh. Looking forward, the federation plans to extend its services to businesses in regions such as the Middle East and North America, widening its global influence. Today's briefing saw 24 delegates in attendance, including journalists and youth student coordinators. The federation underscored its achievements in supporting businesses, particularly in improving trade conditions and overcoming challenges faced by companies operating between Europe and Bangladesh. As a Non-Executive Director of EBFCI, Naseem Talukdar was present at the event. Talukdar is a renowned entrepreneur, ethical recruiter, and advocate for inequality, diversity, and environmental conservation. With over 15 years of experience in project management and think tank leadership, he delivered a powerful message during the press briefing. Talukdar emphasized the critical role played by migrant workers, often referred to as "remittance fighters," in supporting Bangladesh's economy. Despite their immense contributions, these individuals frequently face neglect and lack of respect from their home communities. Talukdar called for greater recognition and respect for these workers, arguing that such acknowledgment would further benefit the country’s economy. In addition to addressing labor issues, Talukdar discussed ongoing environmental projects under the Project Against Plastic (PAP) initiative, as well as upcoming tree plantation efforts aimed at combating deforestation in Bangladesh. He highlighted the need for collaboration to achieve a sustainable economy and environmental protection. Talukdar also mentioned CIFAL, a critical accreditation he is working to bring to Sylhet City, and its importance for fostering development in the region. After the briefing, Talukdar engaged with youth attendees to understand their areas of interest, the challenges they face, and how they could contribute to the country's progress. He emphasized the importance of cooperation in achieving long-term economic and environmental goals. EBFCI’s commitment to promoting economic ties and sustainable development was the central theme of the event, reinforcing the need for continued cooperation between Europe and Bangladesh.

30 Tons of Plastic Bottles and 30 Million Cigarette Filters Turned into Art In the middle of a field stands a solitary, massive tree. It has roots, a trunk, and branches, but no leaves. Surrounding this tree are large sculptures of a fish, a turtle, a grenade, a human brain, and a tree stump. However, none of these are alive. Everything is made from discarded plastic bottles, chip packets, and cigarette filters. This innovative exhibition, organized by the volunteer organization BD Clean, raises public awareness about the harmful effects of plastic and its impact on biodiversity. The exhibition at the Mohakhali T&T ground in Dhaka features sculptures created using 30 tons of bottles, 30 million cigarette filters, and 6 tons of chip packets.

  • That’s a great initiative to highlight! Here's a draft for your post: 🌳 Celebrating Bangladesh's National Tree Fair: A Global Inspiration 🌍 Every year in June, Bangladesh comes alive with the vibrant colors of nature during the National Tree Fair—an extraordinary month-long event where nurseries from across the country gather to sell millions of tree saplings. This remarkable initiative not only promotes environmental awareness but also plays a crucial role in reforesting our planet, one tree at a time. This fair is more than just an event; it's a movement. By encouraging people to plant trees, Bangladesh is making a powerful statement about the importance of sustainability and environmental stewardship. The impact of these efforts is felt far beyond the borders of the country as millions of new trees take root, contributing to global efforts to combat climate change. Why should the world take notice? Because this is a model that can be replicated anywhere. #TreePlanting #GreenInitiative #Sustainability #ClimateAction #GlobalImpact
