This month is ADHD Awareness Month and the theme for 2024 is, “Awareness is Key”.   According to ADHD UK, it is estimated that around 2.6 million people in the UK have ADHD, but only 600,000 are formally diagnosed.   Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) can affect each individual differently, and neurodevelopmental differences can cause great distress when not recognised or understood.   It is therefore important for adults and children to be assessed for the condition if they are experiencing signs of ADHD.    Once fully assessed and diagnosed, individuals can receive the tools, support and treatment they need to move forward with positivity, peace and productivity.   Find out more about how to get an assessment for ADHD here: https://lnkd.in/ecgzDRMd   #ADHD #ADHDAwarenessMonth #assessment #neurodiversity

Today is World Mental Health Day and this year’s theme is, ‘It is time to prioritise mental health in the workplace’.   Over 8 million people aged 16 to 64 years reported a work-limiting health condition in 2023, with 2 million citing a mental health problem as their main issue. Rising mental health conditions are the key driver of the overall increase in work-limiting health problems.   We understand it can be difficult to speak about your mental health and seek help - taking the first steps is brave.   If you are experiencing sleep difficulties, anxiety and depression, grief, stress, or other signs and symptoms of mental health problems, now is the time to speak with someone about how you can get the right support to help.   Find out more about mental health support here: https://lnkd.in/drMkAzZQ   #WorldMentalHealthDay #mentalhealth #anxiety #stress #depression #grief #sleepdifficulties

Is autism different in women? While the assessment process and diagnostic criteria are the same across the gender spectrum, it is true that autistic women can present very differently. Many autistic people learn how to mask their symptoms in order to fit in with their peers and men might present their symptoms in a more obvious or ‘stereotypical’ way, whereas women may have more subtle traits. The criteria on which a diagnosis is made is considered by some to be more aligned with symptoms more commonly found in men. This can mean that women who are autistic may go undiagnosed without an expert assessment that keeps this in mind. An assessment should always pay attention to the relationship between the person and the way their autism presents. Embracing neurodiversity is a strategic advantage for forward-thinking organisations. Neurodiversity brings a unique perspective and skill set to the table. For adults diagnosed with autism, gaining insight into their unique minds can be a transformative journey. Autism is not a limitation but rather a different way of experiencing the world. Embracing neurodiversity can benefit both individuals and their workplaces: 🚀 A formal diagnosis offers individuals a deeper understanding of their unique strengths and challenges. 🚀 With an autism diagnosis comes the opportunity for tailored adjustments in the workplace, ranging from adjustments to the physical workspace to flexible scheduling options, for example. 🚀 Organisations cultivate a rich environment filled with fresh ideas and perspectives, driving creativity and innovation. 🚀 Feeling accepted and valued for one's neurodiversity contributes significantly to job satisfaction. We're thrilled to announce we have opened a new office in Basingstoke to initially support children in the South East of England with access to Right to Choose ADHD and autism assessments.   We have expanded our provision in response to the escalating need for private ADHD and autism assessments, challenges with NHS waiting times, and the ‘Right to Choose’ option for people.   Basingstoke emerged as a natural location to establish an additional clinic, ensuring patients in these areas no longer undertake lengthy journeys to Canterbury, the location of our other office. This move not only underscores our commitment to enhancing accessibility but also extends the reach of our services across the South East of England.   We understand the importance of timely identification and support for individuals with ADHD and autism. Our comprehensive assessments are tailored to meet the unique needs of each individual, providing a pathway to understanding and empowerment.   Find out more about the opening of our new Basingstoke office here: https://lnkd.in/eTGT_tiY   #ADHD #neurodiversity #basingstoke #psicon #righttochoose #autism

Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) can affect each individual differently. The right ADHD diagnosis means you can move forward with confidence, knowing you can access the expert support you need to thrive. An ADHD assessment is the first step to understanding your neurodevelopmental make-up and needs. Here’s what it includes:   ➡ Step one: We ask someone who knows you well to fill in a form and an online screening tool, so we can understand more about you and how you were as a child. A better understanding of your strengths and needs helps our clinical team with their assessment, but if you don’t have someone who can help give details don’t worry. We’ll still be able to carry out your assessment and would just ask you to bring as much information as you can about how you were as a child.   ➡ Step two: A diagnostic assessment is covered by either a clinical psychologist or psychiatrist. They will carry out a thorough clinical interview about how your symptoms or traits are impacting your life at home and at work, your relationships, plus what you were like as a child. The outcome will be explained to you on the day, along with recommendations for adjustments at home and work, as well as support options available to you.   ➡ Step three: You will be given a comprehensive report with a full breakdown of the assessment and findings. The assessment outcome will be clear and easy to understand, and will include recommendations and helpful signposting for post-diagnostic support and treatment available.   ➡ Step four: If the results of the assessment indicate that you have ADHD, we will go through all the relevant support options with you. This usually looks like a ‘menu’ of possibilities (including medication and therapeutic options) and we’ll help you select those you feel would work best for you.    Find out more about getting an ADHD assessment here: https://lnkd.in/ecgzDRMd   #ADHDAssessment #neurodiversity #psicon #righttochoice

Here's how embracing neurodiversity can benefit both individuals and their workplaces. Self-awareness  A formal diagnosis offers individuals a deeper understanding of their unique strengths and challenges. This heightened self-awareness becomes a cornerstone for personal growth and enhanced communication skills within the workplace. Advocacy With knowledge about their neurodiversity, individuals can confidently advocate for themselves professionally. Effective communication with supervisors and colleagues regarding their needs creates an environment of understanding and support. Utilising strengths Autism often comes with unique strengths, such as attention to detail, pattern recognition, and deep focus. Employers who recognise and leverage these strengths can harness the full potential of their neurodiverse employees, leading to enhanced job performance and efficiency. Job satisfaction Feeling accepted and valued for one's neurodiversity contributes significantly to job satisfaction. Empowering individuals to bring their whole selves to work creates a positive and inclusive environment where everyone can thrive. It's essential to recognise that each individual's journey is unique. While some may require specific accommodations or support, others may thrive independently. Regardless of the path, the overarching goal remains the same: to create an environment where every individual can contribute meaningfully and reach their full potential. #neurodiversity #autism #workplace #psicon #autismassessment
