They took a tour of our site, learned about some of the work we do to keep our machines running so they can work on the railway and discussed the variety of engineering opportunities at QTS. #engineering #careers #rail

Great partnership working 🤝
The ARQ team worked in partnership with Network Rail on the CP7 E&P Framework for Wales and Western to complete Headspan to Portal conversion project on structures at Southall, London through the busy Christmas period. This is the first time this methodology has been used, with four structures converted, inclusive of a Mid Point Anchor, during the 52 hour possession. These works will help to improve the resilience of the structures and reduce the potential for disruption to travelling passengers.

We caught up with QTS' first Foundation Apprentice Ben Beaumont for #ScotAppWeek25 to see how his journey has been with us. Ben has been making great progress in his apprenticeship and has been approaching every challenge with positivity and enthusiasm! He told us: “I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my time at QTS helping to work on the app alongside the IT department. QTS has a lot to offer between meaningful relationships with amazing co-workers to the scenic location (and meeting everyone’s dog in their on site dog park). "Being chosen for this apprenticeship has put me way ahead of my competition in my field as well as locking in my place at university.”

We are delighted to have been shortlisted in two categories at this year's Ground Engineering Awards. Working alongside Scotland's Railway and MHB Consultants, our remedial works to critical rock cuttings at Ratho on the Glasgow-Edinburgh line earned us a place as finalists for the UK Project with a Geotechnical Value of between £500K and £1M. In the UK Project with a Geotechnical Value of between £1M and £3M category, our work with Network Rail and Fairhurst on a section of the CBC railway line near Ulverston, Cumbria earned us a position as finalists. These emergency geotechnical works included extensive water management, slope remediation and 130m of new beck created in less than 26 days, with minimal rail closures to mitigate impact on travelling passengers.
