We’ve just submitted a pre-print with HSBC, applying our Quantum Monte Carlo Integration (QMCI) engine to a family of optimization problems in finance. Read the pre-print: https://lnkd.in/eHiFdSvV Optimization techniques can play an important role in financial markets. Many computational finance problems including asset allocation, risk management, option pricing, and model calibration can be solved efficiently using modern optimization techniques. In this paper, the joint team studied “simulation-based optimization”, which is an optimization technique that allows for the evaluation of a small subset of possible configurations, avoiding a potentially infeasible exhaustive search. Part of the machinery of all this is something called “Monte Carlo Integration”, which is used to handle the uncertainty in financial systems to perform evaluation tasks. It's used in many other types of system as well, where uncertainty or randomness are factors, but it can be expensive and time consuming to run. Luckily, quantum computers offer a quadratic speedup in Monte Carlo Integration, which can have big implications for large-scale problems. Using our Quantum Monte Carlo Integration engine, the team made a detailed study of the errors introduced by the QMCI engine, and how those affect the final results. Critically, the study will help practitioners optimize their implementation of these problems while opening up the door to the speedups promised by quantum computing. Wow!! What an honor to win the State of Baden-Württemberg award for Quantum Effects for our H2 quantum computer – the most powerful quantum computer available. We are proud that our full stack integrated technology has been recognized with the Quantum Effects Award. This award goes to technologies that are validated and ready to move towards full operational deployment, based on the Technology Readiness Level rating originally devised by NASA. Our team in Munich, Germany, is pioneering the application of quantum computing to areas such as condensed matter physics and high-energy physics, areas where our industry-leading hardware will be capable of achieving quantum advantage within current research cycles. We are deeply honored to be recognized alongside many incredible global leaders for bridging the gap between the classical and quantum worlds, enabling new services, and revolutionizing industries with quantum technologies.
🏆 Congratulations to the winners of the Quantum Effects Awards 2024! 🏆 The jury has honored innovations that bridge the gap between the classical and quantum worlds, enable new services, and revolutionize various industries. The awards were presented in four categories. Our team has developed a new method for reducing circuit length in quantum simulations. This means that we can run simulations that were previously considered out of reach, and that errors can be minimized when running them. This impacts research in key areas from magnetism to superconductivity. Read the scientific paper: https://lnkd.in/ek3jbXXj

Our annual internal conference is an extraordinary meeting of Quantinuum’s scientists and engineers. This year we hosted our global team virtually and in-person at Newnham College, Cambridge. The conference featured insightful presentations and lively discussions covering the topics critical to progress in quantum computing – from advanced error correction, cryptography and artificial intelligence, to chemistry, computational biology and condensed-matter physics, plus many more. This year featured guest speakers from leading universities, global enterprises, and quantum startups. Collaboration like this is a crucial ingredient in driving our roadmap towards Quantinuum Apollo – our universal, fully-fault tolerant quantum computer that will deliver a commercial tipping point in 2029. We’d like to extend our gratitude to all participants for enriching the event and bringing fresh and thoughtful perspectives. From all of us at Quantinuum, thank you!

For the first time, we have computed the correlation and entanglement between molecular orbitals using our quantum computer. Quantifying orbital entanglement and correlation can help us understand - and ultimately better control - chemical reactions. In this paper, we used our H1-1 system to study the vinylene carbonate + O2 molecular system, which is relevant to lithium-ion battery solvent degradation.
