We are excited to announce the completion of Great Oldbury Community Centre!    Joyce Clifford and Ankitha Dev attended the official handover meeting at Great Oldbury, joining Robert Hitchins Limited, Ward Williams Associates, Barnwood Limited, and Great Oldbury Parish Council to mark this exciting milestone, reflecting on the project’s success and exploring the new facilities. The new community centre will provide a fantastic facility that can be shared by the local residents within the newly constructed housing development at Great Oldbury, including:   Multi-use community hall with kitchen and meeting room Changing rooms for the recently completed sports pitches,  Local Equipped Area of Play (LEAP); and  Neighbourhood Equipped Area of Play (NEAP).   Designed as vital space for residents to come together, socialise, and participate in various activities, the new community centre shares the design language with our previous work on Great Oldbury Primary School, creating a cohesive identity for the area. We’ve had some great feedback from Colm and Matt about their visit to the Housing 21 Conference which happened on Wednesday 9th October. Quattro’s Colm Coyle and Matt Moody attended the conference which was held in Birmingham and provides a valuable forum for speakers and guests from across the housing sector, academia, and policy makers, to discuss the current and pressing issues relating to homes for older people. 🙌 This week at Quattro we've hosted Lexie from Dene Magna School for her work experience placement in our Housing and Communities Team. During her week long placement, Lorien Millidge has been Lexie's mentor while she's used architectural software to design her ideal home. 📢 Lexie tells us… “I love being creative! My favourite lesson in school is Design & Technology, especially using the CAD software they have. I’ve loved my time here at Quattro, and even prefer it over being at school. Lorien has been a great mentor during my time here, always straight to help with any questions I’ve had”. 👉 At Quattro we believe offering work experience placements to school students is essential for inspiring the next generation of architects. These opportunities provide a unique, hands-on insight into the world of architecture that goes beyond textbooks and lectures. We had a wonderful morning with Architecture students from the University of Gloucestershire accompanied by Katharina Hoerath and Fraser Bufton (who are both Senior Lecturers in Architecture), with a visit to our Gloucester office to have a look around and engage with Joyce Clifford and Dan Christison. 🏫 Joyce gave an engaging presentation about Quattro as a company, our ethos, what life is like here at Quattro, and what may come as an Architect after graduating. 🎓 Dan gave an insightful presentation about an up-and-coming local project of ours at Podsmead, Gloucester. The talk was around the regeneration of the area for the local community and new homes and dwellings there, and briefly on the socio-economic upturn that is aimed for from this project for the local area. 🏡 As a company we always like to reach out to provide these kinds of opportunities for students of Architecture, construction, and indeed, those who maybe curious and considering a future in these fields, as part of our social and community engagement. 🛠️📐 The aim is to provide a real-world idea of what kind of projects they might work on in the future, but also to provide a forum in which they can ask questions to working professionals; those who have many years of experience, but also to those currently working through courses themselves as well as recent graduates.
