Eleven publishers came together at Google's offices this week to continue their work on developing reader revenue strategies as part of the Google-funded Reader Revenue Programme run by Jeremy Clifford and Alastair Lewis and Jonathan Chambers. Excellent presentations from Reid Holland, talking about his experience in driving reader strategies in the magazine world, and Google's Kavi Manivarmane gave excellent insight into how the latest AI tools and strategies can support their businesses, added to the day-long session in which publishers shared best practice, initiatives and knowledge in a truly collaborative experience for all. Thanks to Google, Cyril Forget and Benedicte Autret for hosting the day. The publishers now enter the third phase of the programme where we will accelerate their journey to finding sustainable solutions for their journalism based on knowing more about their readers.

Reflecting on a fantastic flying visit to Inverness to see the team at Highland News Media ( Iliffe Media Group )- Jeremy Clifford and Alastair Lewis led a strategy session to focus the team on how they double their digital subscribers in the next 12 months by focusing on the full lifecycle from acquisition to retention and identifying plans for each stage of the cycle and all user types. Really excited to see how the growth continues over the course of the next 12 months. All part of the Reader Revenue Project we are delivering this year with 10 other local & regional news publishers thanks to the Google News Initiative - exciting times ! #digital #localnews #subscriptions
