    🗣 “Leadership and learning are indispensable to each other” This famous quote from John F. Kennedy perfectly encapsulates the mindset of high-performing leaders AND they ensure their organisation shares it. By making learning a key pillar of culture an organisation is well-positioned to be innovative by instilling a growth mindset in its employees.  This is how agile organisations are created—employees are always growing their skillset and identifying or creating new market trends, and they become market leaders by adapting quickly. When JFK challenged NASA and the US to land a man on the moon by the end of the 1960s, they trailed the Soviet Union in the space race. This challenge required NASA to learn a LOT quickly but eventually led to the success of Apollo 11 in July 1969. JFK helped NASA become the world's leading space programme because he set an ambitious goal that required it to become a learning-orientated organisation, and this culture remained throughout the early stages of the ambitious Space Shuttle programme.    As a leader how do you ensure that you're learning continuously? #leadership #growthmindset #culture

    Military culture is often perceived to be very much command and control focused. I have even had, in the past, people say to me that "we really need change in our business, but don't want a group of consultants that are just shouting at us". Television shows often reinforce this misconception, overplaying that shouty, sweary, aggressive stereotype. Why? Because its good for viewing figures. But its not the reality. In the clip attached, I explain why this isn't the case, and introduce a simple yet powerful concept, which the military use to help leaders empower their teams.     Good communication is vital to effective leadership; your words are highly impactful- from shaping culture to motivating employees and setting strategic direction. Here are some actionable tips to help you lead with purpose and clarity: 🔶 Focus on Clarity. Complexity weakens your message and can result in your team misunderstanding your direction or intentions. 🔶 Ensure a Common Understanding. Listening is a key aspect of effective communication; ensure you carefully listen to your teams understanding of what you’ve told them and correct them if necessary. 🔶 Be Transparent. Transparency builds trust, this doesn’t mean sharing everything but as much as you realistically can to provide helpful context. 🔶 Emphasising Shared Purpose.  Be consistent about WHY your organisation does what it does. This builds team spirit and motivates employees to achieve goals. 🔶 Tailor the Message.
