There’s just a few hours to go until we officially open our new warehouse in The Netherlands! This 16,500 sq. ft. facility houses 804 pallet racking bays and 60 cantilever racking bays and can accommodate 1m kg of fixings and electrical stock. As a result of this site expansion, the R&M Europe BV Branch is now able to offer a stock holding service for clients, giving them access to the stock they need for their projects, when they need it, thereby avoiding long lead times and delays. They also have an experienced warehouse team on hand, with extensive product knowledge, to pick and pack client orders and provide technical advice. Now that the nights are drawing in and the weather is taking a turn, we thought we’d share some easy wins that we spotted on the Energy Saving Trust website for reducing electrical energy consumption at home. 💡Switch off don’t go on standby and save up to £45 annually. Check the instructions though as some satellite and digital TV recorders may need to be left plugged in so they can keep track of any programmes you want to record. 💡Avoid overfilling the kettle and you can save £29 a year. 💡Avoid using a tumble dryer. Drying clothes on racks inside where possible or outside can save you £50 a year. 💡Keeping your shower time to just 4 minutes could save a typical household £60 a year. 💡Filling your dishwasher and reducing your use by one run per week for a year could save you £12. R&M will be supporting the Movember movement again this year but we’re doing it with a twist…    Many of our male colleagues across the globe are taking part in the Grow a Mo challenge to help raise funds for groundbreaking health projects across mental health and suicide prevention, prostate cancer, and testicular cancer. You can follow their progress via our Moustache Montage posts every Friday throughout November.    The R&M ladies wanted to find a way to show their support and solidarity with their male colleagues. Although not an official Movember activity, some will be sporting a range of customised fake moustaches in our Try a Tache challenge! We’ll be sure to share some of the pictures with you in due course. We’ve also invited colleagues to submit entries for our Witty Moustache One Liner contest and vote in our ‘best moustache’ competition. This week, our R&M Fixings & Supports Division is celebrating 20 years in business! The division has grown substantially over the past two decades to become an internationally renowned supplier of fixings, cable management and support products, power tools, and accessories as well as a provider of pre-fabrication services, complemented by a ground-breaking online bracket design tool.   Nick Dyer-Smith, Director of the R&M Fixings & Supports Division, says,   “I’m delighted to say that the division is going from strength to strength! Our turnover has nearly trebled in the past five years alone, the pre-fabrication side of our business has exploded, we’ve seen an increase in the volume of customised solutions, we’re specialising in more and more markets, we've increased our office space, our fleet, and our employee numbers. Moving forward, we will continue our efforts to grow the business. We’re committed to promoting and supporting positive mental health across R&M. Each year we participate in Mind’s Workplace Wellbeing Survey (we currently hold ‘Bronze Achieving Change’ status), which helps us understand how well we are managing workplace mental health. We also have a clear wellbeing action plan, a network of Mental Health First Aiders, and we offer support and services via our Employee Assistance Programme. Today, we’ve invited all of our employees across the globe to put some time aside and take part in a series of activities specifically aimed at supporting strong mental health. They range from group challenges (water, five-a-day, steps) and healthy potluck lunches, to open discussions in teams about mental health challenges, group meditation, yoga, and much more. We hope those involved will take these forward and integrate them into their routines. We’ve also put together a bumper pack of information and resources for our people. This includes: • A message of support and solidarity from William Crook, our Group Managing Director • A booklet highlighting the services, resources, and support available, should the need arise • Mental health stories (videos) from others who have struggled with, overcome, or learnt how to manage their mental health • Self-care strategies • Self-help workbooks • Awareness posters.
