We believe in exceptional small charities
About us
In the corporate world, great ideas are rewarded. Funds quickly flow to the most effective companies. In the charity sector that isn’t always the case. The big names with big budgets receive the lion’s share of income, irrespective of their effectiveness. At Raise Your Hands we find and select small charities with proven impact. We work with companies and people who want a different experience of giving and confidence that funds will be well spent. We introduce them to a portfolio of organisations they wouldn’t find otherwise. Then we provide experiences of giving that are something out of the ordinary. Launched in 2015, to date we have raised over £1.6m for our selected charity partners. Raise Your Hands is a charity (CIO) registered in England & Wales, charity no. 1174956.

Described as “one of the most exhilarating, discombobulating, potentially life-changing theatrical experiences going”, immersive theatre sensation You Me Bum Bum Train is back in London for 2024 and we are thrilled to be working with them as an associate partner. Our partnership was born out of shared beliefs in the potential of young people, raising money for charities in innovative ways and the power of collaboration between art, business and charity to create positive social impact. All tickets for this year’s incredibly exciting and secretive show have already been allocated, BUT we may have our hands on a few, as well as access to organising private nights for groups. If you’d like to know more about how to get yourself a ticket for You Me Bum Bum Train, sign up to our mailing list here: (https://lnkd.in/ewb6pqxD) and keep your eyes on your inbox for further information. To find out more about private nights, drop us a message. #ymbbt #youmebumbumtrain #londonevents #immersivetheatre

It's #HospiceCareWeek, which feels like the perfect time to mention one of our charities: Jessie May – a specialist nursing support service designed for children with life-limiting and life-threatening conditions. Unlike traditional hospices, Jessie May delivers its services in the family's own home, and has been doing since 1996. They support the whole family for the whole journey - in life, at end of life and in bereavement. Find out more about them (and the rest of our brilliant charities) here: https://lnkd.in/eEdZJqRG

As many as 1 in 3 children have a parent who is struggling with their mental health. @ourtimecharity is the only UK charity dedicated to supporting children who are experiencing parental mental illness. We're delighed to be adding them to Raise Your Hands this month. We define a small charity as one with an income threshold that's less than £2m. We've had four charities outgrow us in the past few years and we're delighted for them! The average year-on-year growth for our charities while on the Raise Your Hands platform is 22% for fundraising income and 20% for the number of children and young people supported. Every three minutes a child is referred to NHS #MentalHealth services - that's 500 every day. Treatment doesn't start soon enough, with waiting lists reported as "unacceptably long". That's why it's so important that children get the help they need from their communities, too. We're proud to support charities that deliver all kinds of crucial mental health services. Whether it's The Wave Project helping kids destress with surf lessons, Create Charity who help young people overcome their challenges with creativity, or Dandelion Time who assist children with challenging emotional issues. Please check out their profiles and give them a follow 🤝

Raise Your Hands reposted this
NHS referrals for anxiety in children have more than doubled from pre-Covid levels (as recently reported by The Guardian). In practical terms: more than 500 children a day, or one every three minutes, are referred to mental health services in England, only to find themselves on "unacceptably long" waiting lists. This increase is mirrored by the rise in referrals to Dandelion Time, where we can assist children and families cope better, filling a gap in services in a timely manner. For 20 years, we have been addressing children’s struggles with their mental health, advocating the therapeutic benefits of harnessing nature and creative activities as a family and in wider groups. We have witnessed how this approach supports children's mental health and promotes their development and future aspirations. Governments must work alongside charities to address this rising need and achieve lasting outcomes for children and the generations to follow. #RestoringHopeToYoungLives #BrighterFuture Source: https://ow.ly/oUHH50Tgejq
