There is a lot of uncertainty regarding the new duty holder role of Principal Designer as required by the Building Safety Act 2022. Particularly in relation to Design & Build projects. If you'd like to discuss what this means for your next project, we have put together some guidance on how Rame Architects Ltd as a practice intend to fulfil our obligations and break down the services we can offer to our clients and contractors to help them fulfil theirs. If you would like to find out more, please drop me a line. Or if you would like to have a chat about anything in relation to the regulation changes or to see how we might be able to help, please get in touch. #BSA2022 #principaldesigner #buildingregulations #BSA #construction

Whilst the planning process can be infuriating and seem to create endless barriers to development, with hard work and expertise, even the most difficult projects can be successful. We are delighted to have recently secured planning approval for the conversion of a derelict Cornish Copper Mine Engine House, set within a World Heritage Site. The approval was achieved by meticulous and sensitive design and collaboration with the relevant authorities and we are delighted that this building which otherwise would have eventually crumbled beyond repair will now be saved, restored and will live on for many more years under a different use, but with its rich history preserved!

Since I’m getting back into the swing of things with LinkedIn I wanted to take a moment to share a bit about what we do at Rame Architects. We've been crafting spaces that speak to both functionality and aesthetics since 2007, with a focus on Retail and Commercial sectors. On projects all across the UK - thanks to our dedicated teams in Plymouth, London, and Glasgow. It's not just about the buildings for us. It's about the people we work with and for. From major retailers to unique homes, each project is unique and a journey we're passionate about. I’m proud of what we've achieved, extremely proud of the team - and excited for what's ahead! Have a great weekend!

Out of all the projects we’ve had the pleasure to work on, the retail space design projects have been some of the most rewarding experiences. Something we’re really proud of is how we’ve embraced sustainability in commercial projects. Take the Bath Southgate Eco Store we did back in 2009 – it was a game changer, being the UK's first A-Rated Convenience Store. And then there's the Haslucks Green Road store in Solihull - a 'Low Carbon Store' with cool tech like roof-mounted PV – it's been called the UK's greenest convenience store! When we moved to BIM and Revit in 2014, it was a big leap, but worth it for the precision and efficiency it brought to our projects. Let’s not forget we’ve delivered over 600 projects with Sainsbury’s. What matters in retail design isn't just the building – it's about creating spaces where brands and people connect. That's always been our focus at Rame Architects, and it's what makes this job so rewarding. If you're thinking about a retail project – whether it's starting from scratch or giving an old space a new life – feel free to reach out.

You need to use 3D visuals in the design and planning phases. We use it for all our projects If you look at the images below, you’ll see a comparison between the 3D model and finished product of a Tim Horton’s drive thru in Leicester we remodeled. Here’s some more reasons to use 3D visuals: 1.Seeing is believing You wouldn’t buy a car without seeing a picture of it first. That's what building without 3D visuals is like. By using 3D, we get to see and tweak our designs in real-time. It's like a test run before the actual construction begins, minus the stress of costly do-overs. 2.Speeding up workflow The planning approval process is much smoother when you can visibly see the plans. We show the planning authorities exactly what we're thinking, in a language everyone gets – good, clear images. It's easier to get the go-ahead when everyone's on the same page. 3.Keeping everyone in the loop 3D visuals aren't just for us architects. They're extremely valuable for everyone involved.

The Levelling-up and Regeneration Act 2023 came into force on 26 October 2023. The act introduced a number of town and country planning reforms that are intended to make the planning system more efficient, effective, and responsive to the needs of local communities. These include: - Greater flexibility for local authorities in setting planning policies - A new streamlined process for approving major infrastructure projects - A requirement for developers to produce design and quality plans - A new mechanism for resolving planning disputes - Measures to promote green development The reforms will also help to deliver the government's ambition to ensure new development is built more beautifully, produce more local infrastructure, like GP surgeries, schools and transport links, is shaped by local people’s democratic wishes, enhances the environment, and creates neighbourhoods where people want to live and work. Read more about the Levelling-up and Regeneration Act 2023 here https://lnkd.in/ef-5X8vR Connect with us to take advantage of our design expertise and proven experience of the planning system to help you secure planning permission for your next project. #Regeneration #TownPlanning #Architecture
