Having conversations yesterday at Creative Impact Club festival of impact event ... We realised not everyone is aware of the Health stats which impact black community. So here is an overview of some stats 1️⃣ We are one of the groups least likley to be active. According to Sport England 2️⃣ We are at a higher risk of developing type 2 diabetes at a younger age. According to Diabetes UK 3️⃣ Black men have a 1 in 4 chance of being diasngosed with proscate cancer. According to Prostate Cancer UK 4️⃣ The black community are one of the groups at a higher risk of developing high blood pressure. “Being around females who look like me and who I could relate to. Sharing similar experiences and all on a journey to better health and fitness” We can underestimate how powerful it is to be in a space with others that look like you, connect with you and understand your narrative. We hope to continue to create space to talk about barriers to exercise, mindset and keeping active. Sunday 19th November Marked international Men's Day! A day created to celebrate the positive value that men bring to the world. This reminds us of a conversation we had with a male meberbof the black community. We asked him "what barriers do you face in being active?" His reply was: Sometimes as men we are just trying to protect and provide for those that we love, that looking after us gets forgotten. This international men's day we want to tell the men in our community that we value what you provide!
