Addressing key questions on decarbonization strategies, current technologies (think heat pumps and insulation), and more. Opportunities for partnerships with technologies in need of a field test! 🏘️ Rossendale Council Initiatives: Impressive efforts by Rossendale Council in reducing carbon emissions. Lowest emissions among Lancashire councils and strong commitment from the top down. Thanks to Kwabena Osei Poku for the update! ☀️ Rossendale Valley Energy (RVE) Update: Community-focused net-zero project, getting started on 3 houses but many more to come. Ensuring inclusivity for low-income communities and showcasing best practices. ❌ Key challenges highlighted on the expert panel: Renewable power going to waste! The queues to get on to the national grid causing a huge barrier for renewable energy deployment - Gerard Ennis We should also be asking: 'what can we do to reduce the demand on the grid?' Answer: Turn shit off! 🚫 - Deyrick Allen Change planning laws in England to enable more Air Source Heat Pumps to be installed - Dave Halton at Global Energy Systems Skills: are businesses doing enough to encourage the next generation into low carbon jobs, what else can schools, colleges and universities do to ensure there are green skills for green jobs? ✅ Our expert panel's contributions were invaluable in guiding discussions and inspiring action. As a country we got rid of coal yesterday. The drawing is from my housemate's 7-year-old daughter, I think she has a strong future in energy policy! More locally Community Energy Preston needs some help getting some Lancashire local solar installer partners so that we can get detailed design underway and get building community solar for the next generation.
