Essential tree safety works are coming to three locations in Redditch this October and November. Ash trees afflicted by the global ash dieback disease are to be removed from the Pitcheroak and Foxlydiate woods and from along the Warwick Highway in Matchborough. And deteriorating poplar trees will also be removed from the Warwick Highway area, as part of ongoing work to manage the trees now declining together in numbers, having been planted in swathes during Redditch’s new town expansion. More suitable native tree species will be replanted where required. The works mean that: 🚦 The Warwick Highway will have traffic lights at its roundabout with Claybrook Drive between 21-28 October. 🌳 The car park at Pitcheroak Woods will be closed for three weeks between 28 October and 15 November. 🚧 And Bromsgrove Road will be closed between the Pitcheroak and Foxlydiate woods between 4-11 November. Did you know that we work to a Woodland Management Plan in Redditch, established in 1995 for the long-term management of countless trees across our 168 hectares of woodlands? You can read more about that, and this latest news, at https://lnkd.in/ef2NV_re

We’re asking people in Headless Cross and Webheath to let us know if they may be thinking about having garden waste collections next year. Here’s why: 🐘🐘🐘🐘🐘 🐘🐘🐘🐘🐘 🐘🐘🐘🐘🐘 🐘🐘🐘🐘🐘 We’ve already collected well over 20 🐘 worth of garden waste from those areas alone this year. And it’s not even the end of the first year of our new expanded service yet! Moving all those 🐘 takes some serious muscle, so the more we know about how many more 🐘 we might be asked to collect there next year, the better we can plan to maximise the number of 🐘 we are able to collect, and serve more households more efficiently. If you live in those areas and are thinking of having garden waste collections next year, we’d really appreciate it if you’d let us know at https://lnkd.in/eBbDmC4e or 01527 881188. If you’re an existing customer (thanks for your 🐘), we already know about you, so you wouldn’t need to do anything. Here’s to many more 🐘 next year (can you tell it’s #WorldAnimalDay today?!)

Nobody can just leave their unwanted items on our streets. It’s against the law. ✅ Public waste collection services, the tip, registered private waste carriers... ⛔ Leaving it on the street. Find out how to properly and lawfully dispose of waste, as well as reporting fly tipping and helping us take enforcement action on it, at https://lnkd.in/eFk_yhMm Pictured: Exhall Close, last week. Carpets, household stuff, medication… dumped. We’ve cleared it up of course, but only once our specialist investigators at Worcestershire Regulatory Services got a good look at it for potential evidence. If you have any info on this you can call 01905 822799 quoting case reference 11717986.

Here's a lovely sight our team discovered earlier today, fly tipped near the subway behind Huins Close. Dumping waste and unwanted items like this harms our communities. If you have any info on this incident please contact our specialist investigators at Worcestershire Regulatory Services on 01905 822799, quoting case reference 11721066. Report fly tipping, help us catch offenders, and find out how to properly dispose of waste, at https://lnkd.in/eFk_yhMm

Our summer survey about how you feel about your local places closes this weekend. 🙏 Thanks to everyone who has already had their say. Please make YOUR opinion count too: https://lnkd.in/ePRQaYhF Did you know that the responses to this will be published in, and help guide, the council’s official Council Plan? That’s the plan that sets our direction as an organisation, and the plan our services work towards as we try to do what our residents need and want. Your responses to these regular surveys are an important part of that process.
