The National Cyber Security Centre has produced some guidance on how to engage with your Board. Below is a summary of their top tips on understanding your audience. ➡️ Understand how your Board works: make sure you know who makes up your board and how they operate. How often do they meet? What format do the meetings take? Etc. ➡️ Cyber is a risk: Whilst most boards won't have vast cyber knowledge they will understand risk so talk about it in those terms. ➡️ Engage outside of Board meetings: It is easier to talk to the Board in formal meetings if you already have a relationship and they have had previous discussions with you about cyber. ➡️ Answer the most important questions first: Make sure that you understand what is most important from the Boards perspective. ➡️ Expect to be asked about the big picture: The Board may ask you 'big picture questions' like, How do we benchmark against other organisations?
