🌟 Yesterday, we had the privilege of visiting Professor Adam Greenstein and his exceptional team of scientists at The University of Manchester. They shared inspiring updates on their ground breaking journey to develop a treatment for Alzheimer’s Disease and Vascular Dementia, and we were even given a tour of the lab where the real magic happens! Thanks to the support of the Regatta Foundation, their research has reached incredible new heights. This funding has allowed the team to dive deeper, head overseas to collaborate with global experts, and bring invaluable knowledge back to Manchester. We’re thrilled to see their work progressing to the next stage in partnership with a drug discovery team. A huge congratulations to Pr. Greenstein and his fellow lead researcher, Dr. Harry Pritchard, who were recently honoured with a British Heart Foundation Hero Award for their pioneering vascular dementia research. A few of the team members recently spent the day in Mission Christmas HQ in Manchester, helping to sort and pack gifts for families who will truly appreciate them. We were also proud to donate some clothing and accessories, as well as the annual collection point at Regatta HQ where colleagues can donate gifts. A festive afternoon was had by all in the Campsite for Regatta's annual Quiz-mas yesterday. Mulled wine and hot Vimto was flowing, wishes were written on tags for the Christmas tree decorating and teams taking part in the Christmas quiz. Basecamp is ready for the festivities to begin🎄

On World Suicide Prevention Day our Mental Health First Aiders re-introduced themselves to colleagues across the business and let them know that they are there to talk. With plenty of biscuits and a hot brew - we encourage everyone to start the conversation. Here is Karen from our Sales Support team, she has her brew ready and this is what she had to say on being a Mental Health First Aider. "I signed up for the Mental Health First Aid team not longer after I joined Regatta. I do think that talking about about how we are feeling and breaking down the stigma around mental health is so very important - the more we talk about things the less overwhelming they can become. The MHFA team have regular meetings to come up with ideas to remind people that we are here if they need a brew and / or a chat." We're thrilled to announce the extension of our partnership with Conservation Collective, a global network of local environmental foundations supporting grassroots projects dedicated to preserving our planet's biodiversity 🌊💚🌿 This year, Regatta Great Outdoors is proudly supporting Devon Environment Foundation (DEF) in funding the Wild Planet Trust: Save Our Seagrass project. The project aims to protect and restore these vital ecosystems in Torbay through ecological monitoring, physical protection, and community engagement. DEF's funding will boost efforts to understand seagrass health, promote seagrass-friendly moorings, and launch the 'Seagrass Champions' initiative, encouraging local tourism businesses to pledge sustainable practices. Last month, we had the pleasure of welcoming Oly Newton, founder of Lights On Wellbeing and the Run4YourMind Foundation , to our head office to discuss the crucial topic of mental health. Having fought his own battles with mental health, Oly discovered that running 'saved his life.' Through his speaking engagements and activism, he aims to break down the stigma surrounding mental health and inspire others to take control of their own wellbeing. From destigmatising OCD to addressing internal and external stresses, Oly candidly shared his journey with our team, inspiring us all. We left the session feeling empowered to continue the conversation about mental health in our workplace.  

As part of our goal to spotlight and learn more about the amazing people within the outdoor community, we had the pleasure of spending time with the remarkable women from ProjectCold, a community of cold-water swimmers making waves in the great outdoors. 🫶 Watch as we dive deeper into their world. 🏊♀️
