We are excited to complete our hat trick of planning applications with the submission for a proposed new hybrid renewable energy park northwest of Abington, South Lanarkshire.  Over the past 12 months, we have now submitted planning applications for Solar (Glenniston which has also secured a CFD), Storage (Milton) and now M74 West which includes wind, solar and storage technologies.    The M74 West project consists of up to 22 wind turbines, approximately 120 MW peak of ground mounted solar PV panels and a 50 MW battery energy storage system (BESS) and is located next to existing or proposed new infrastructure to minimise its impact.   The wind farm element of the project alone has the potential to power over 170,000 homes and will have a significant role in helping the Scottish and UK governments to meet their emissions reduction and net zero commitments.    Here's what Renewco’s Head of Development, Richard Koiak, said of our proposal: “Firstly, we would like to thank all those who helped take the project to this stage but more importantly all those who attended our consultation events and provided valuable feedback on our development. We are delighted to confirm an application for consent has been submitted to the Scottish Government and looking forward to the next stage of the development process."   Further details of this project can be found here - https://lnkd.in/eAgW3ghx Ramboll, David Bell, MVGLA, CFA Archaeology Ltd, MacArthur Green: Carbon Conscious Environmental Consultants - Part of SLR, Pell Frischmann, TNEI, Aviatica, BIGGAR Economics Ltd, Pager Power Ltd.

🌅 Today, we are delighted to receive successful confirmation for the Glenniston Solar Project in the Contract for Difference Allocation Round 6 (AR6) results. This is the UK Government electricity price mechanism to incentivise low-carbon generation.   The proposed Glenniston Solar Project will have a capacity of 39MW solar generation and an additional 10MW of embedded battery storage. The scheme has the potential to generate an estimated 52.3GWh of green energy annually which is roughly equivalent to the energy consumption of 18,000 average UK households, equating to approximately 22,590 tonnes of annual CO2 savings.    Our success in AR6 lets the project move towards the anticipated £50 million total capital investment associated with the project including the creation of a community benefit fund which will be distributed across the local area.   We would like to thank our joint venture partner Locogen along with all our other consultants and stakeholders who helped progress our project to this stage.  Further information on this project is available here: https://lnkd.in/eCVxvZG2
