Reskinned combines 20 years of textile recycling experience & smart tech to make circular fashion models a reality

About us

Reskinned is here to help fashion brands achieve their sustainability goals. We want to maximise the life of clothing and footwear by creating a circular economy model that incentivises owners to trade in unloved garments with a simple, hassle-free take-back process. We’re combining 20 years of textile recycling experience with clever tech to ensure we get clothing and footwear into the hands of the people who will value it most at each stage of its life. The Reskinned process ensures we maximise each and every item’s value and potential re-wear opportunities. We promise to reuse or recycle 100% of what we receive and ensure 0% enters landfill. REWARDING CUSTOMERS FOR RETURNING Our simple-to-understand and easy-to-implement take-back scheme offers your customers the opportunity to trade in garments for a credit value. The customer drops clothes in-store or via a simple online process on your site. Garments are then returned to us for validation and processing. Digitising the process delivers even greater insight into your customers and how they engage with your brand.

We had the incredible opportunity to partner with E.L.V. DENIM for their London Fashion Week presentation which showcased how they turn discarded denim into stunning new denim pieces. As one of our re-use partners, we send ELV denim any denim items we receive that aren’t fit for resale but still have life in them. They may be damaged or misshapen but could be transformed into something new. By doing this 40,000 items have been saved from landfill. We're so grateful to be a part of the story that allows pre-loved pieces to be transformed into something extraordinary. Find out more about this partnership on our blog: https://lnkd.in/eTM9B8-u

  • What do you do with leftover stock? It’s a real challenge, and one that every single brand faces. Even with the most strategic purchasing strategy, it’s inevitable that you’re going to end up with some form of surplus stock left over at some time. Those “last pieces” in odd sizes, late customer returns, seasonal shifts and natural product cycles - there just comes a point when it’s time to move these pieces off the website and out of the store. That’s where Reskinned comes in. We're the single sku experts and and have built processes and software that make it hyper-efficient to process individual items at scale. Our unique approach means we can maximise revenue and boost yield per item significantly - most of the time that's 5 -10X what a brand might see from normal bulk clearance routes. We’re turning problems into profit, and getting clothing into the hands of the people who will value it the most. Ready to transform your approach to leftover stock? Let’s chat. #sustainablefashion #circularfashion #reskinned #FashionInnovation #deadstock #SlowFashion

  • Can people sort their unwanted clothes into rewear or recycle? We ran a trial with Reskinned customers as part of the ACT UK project. Before sending their clothes in to us, we asked them to decide whether the clothes could be worn again by someone else or are only good for recycling. If they selected recycle, they then selected why from a drop down. Torn? Faded? Stained? etc. They were guided through the process on the Reskinned takeback site. Once the takeback was received, we looked at what was sent in and recorded whether we agreed. And guess what? We agreed 91% of the time! The trial shows that collecting clothes for recycling, direct from people's homes, could be part of a circular fashion system, here in the UK. We’ll keep collaborating with our ACT UK partners to explore the opportunities. • In June 2024, we brought together brands, retailers, textile collectors and sorters, tech experts, consultants, educators and more to talk about the issues with post-consumer textile collections (PCT) in the UK. Recommendations from the event and subsequent meetings were: 1. Automated Textile Sorting and Processing (ATSP) facility feeder hubs to reduce operating costs and climate impacts for sorters and collectors. 2. Industry-led taskforce to ensure EPR is focused towards the regeneration and support of the UK's textile recycling industry. 3. Design for recycling work to be amplified and made available beyond Textiles 2030 and CFIN. Support is required to further engage designers at small to medium brands as well as student and graduate designers. 4. Pre-research for a nationwide behaviour change campaign to more deeply understand citizen behaviour specifically to redirect the 49% of unwanted textiles that go in the household bin (residual waste). • Passenger x Reskinned: The Repair Collection Clothes aren’t meant to sit on a shelf and gather dust. Especially Passenger clothes - they’re very much made to be lived in. Scuffed on rocky trails, warmed by campfires and splashed with salty seawater - these are clothes designed to weather life’s storms. But sometimes a small tear, a broken zip, or an imperfect mark keeps perfectly good gear from making it out into the world. This Repair Week, we’ve teamed up with Passenger to give their deadstock, faulty items, and imperfect returns a second shot at a life of adventure. But instead of just patching things up, we’re embracing the art of repairing, making visible mending a feature for these pieces. With bold colour blocking, embroidered details, and visible mending, every piece has been carefully and creatively reimagined by our in-house repair team, turning the little imperfections into unique features of the clothes’ personality. Every piece in the collection is one of a kind, just as unique as the person who will take it home and wear it. This is your opportunity to get your hands on something no one else has, and give a piece of Passenger gear even more stories on the road. The Passenger x Reskinned Repair Collection drops on our website from 07th March . Limited edition, one of a kind: once it’s gone, it’s gone. • All good clothes deserve to stay in circulation, not end up in landfill. But what happens to the clothes that are faulty, worn out, or damaged during the resale process? At Reskinned, repairs are a core part of our mission to keep clothing in use for as long as possible. While fixing damaged items might not be the first thing that comes to mind when you think of resale, restoring them unlocks a valuable revenue stream for brands. We’ve developed smart tech systems and an efficient, high-quality repair process, making it viable and cost-effective to restore individual items. This single SKU approach gives even more pieces a second life and turns potential loss into profit for our brand partners. So far, we’ve repaired over 2,000 items, transforming what was once considered unsellable into valuable resale stock. For our brand partners, that means recovering more from returns, reducing loss, and unlocking new revenue opportunities. Got items in need of a second life? Let’s chat. #Reskinned #CircularFashion #SustainableFashion #FashionInnovation

  • Today the results of the Auto-sorting for Circularity in Textiles (ACT UK) trials are being published! In the last 18 months, multiple partners have created and executed trials to see if we can redirect worn-out clothing out of the nation's bins and into a facility to prepare it for recycling. We saw that: . Asking for worn-out clothes as well as rewearable clothes results in up to 46% more clothes being collected . People need clear instructions at the point of sorting in the home to decide which clothes can be worn again and which must be recycled . People want a solution to the 49% of clothing they currently put in the bin. . Collectors and sorters have a vital role to play in creating a more circular fashion future in the UK The trials were a brilliant example of how focused collaboration across our fashion industry can take us closer to a circular fashion landscape in the UK. Thanks to our project manager Hannah Carter for getting it done alongside Michelle Barry, Ross Barry, WRAP, Circle-8 Textile Ecosystems and the UKFT Association. Also thanks to Marks and Spencer, Oxfam, The Salvation Army, Tesco, Textile Recycling International, Kirklees Council, Crisis, Dunelm. • At Reskinned, our priority is helping brands to keep great clothes in circulation. And it might not be the first thing to spring to mind, but that also includes faulty items and imperfect customer returns. We believe that these items deserve a second life too, so we figured out a way to make it profitable for brands to get these back into circulation. Normally, restoring these items would be uneconomical, leading them to be written off, but our efficient repair and cleaning systems make restoration a viable and highly cost-efficient option. For most of our brand partners, we get over 60% of returned or faulty items back into circulation, and achieve 40-50% of the original selling price. Inevitably not everything makes the grade and if we really can't fix it we'll recycle it responsibly so at the very least we're doing something useful with them. We’re helping brands turn their problems into new avenues for profit. Ready to recover more from your customer returns? Get in touch. #sustainablefashion #circularfashion #reskinned #FashionInnovation #deadstock #SlowFashion
