About us
We are Restless Development, the youth-led development agency. Young people are most affected by the most persistent problems in the world, yet are frequently overlooked as part of the solution. Our mission is to place young people at the forefront of change and development. Our strength comes from being led by young people and young professionals, from the boardroom right through to the field. We have been working hard since 1985 and over the past 30 years, our programmes have reached over 7 million young people directly and indirectly.

💬 What's our goal? A society where girls are empowered, educated, and free to make their own choices, paving the way for a brighter and more equitable future! At Restless Development in Sierra Leone, we work directly with girls and young women, boys and wider community members, to focus on: 🎒 improving school enrolment rates, 📕 enhancing school retention, and 👧 facilitating successful school transitions for girls to reduce the risk and likelihood of early child marriage. 👏 It is with great joy that we welcome the Prohibition of Child Marriage Act passed recently in Sierra Leone. This watershed moment demonstrates the power of youth-led #communitychange and signifies a commitment to break the cycle of #childmarriage and its associated consequences. 🙌 Read this brilliant blog by lesley garura and Natalie Agboeze on our work to end early and forced marriage in the country! https://lnkd.in/g3T3uf9P #ChildMarriage #ChildMarriageAct #SierraLeone #Law #HumanRights #Equality #SRHR #SexualRights #Education #DevelopmentProgrammes

This Morning Restless Development headed down to Parliament to wish the new MP’s some good luck❕ ⭐️As we welcome our new MP’s into office, we want to encourage our new Government to #WelcomeTheFuture generation. ⭐️As young people we are counting on our MP’s and Government to listen to us and act on our priorities. Check out the video I put together in my previous post to hear how young Chnagemakers think the new MP’s should #WelcomeTheFuture (I’ve been in my comms and editing bag recently 😅). Had an absolute ball this morning with my lovely Restless Development colleagues, handing out “Good Luck!” cards to new MPs and inviting them to #WelcomeTheFuture with us. Half the world is under 30. More than ever the world needs youth power and leadership to solve its greatest challenges. As MPs take up their seats, we are keen to see them listen to young people, partner with them to find solutions to the world’s biggest challenges and amplify their youth power. We are an optimistic bunch at Restless and we wanted to share that energy and enthusiasm with parliamentarians because #YouthPower matters.

🌟 Meet Loveness, our #YouthPower Hero of the Week! 🌍 Loveness is a youth representative for the Singida region in Tanzania and a member of the Youth Sounding Board, a consultative group for The Embassy of Switzerland in Tanzania powered by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) and coordinated by Restless Development 🌿 Loveness attended COP28 as part of the Green Samia Platform, an initiative dedicated to preserving the environment for future generations. This platform, established by the Tanzanian President's office following the Africa Climate Summit, connects young people engaged in climate action across the nation. Growing up surrounded by nature, Loveness developed a deep appreciation for the environment and a strong desire to protect it. Witnessing the effects of climate change and unsustainable practices on her community, she decided to take action. Loveness has dedicated herself to promoting sustainable practices that benefit both the environment and the livelihoods of her fellow community members. She actively educates her community on eco-friendly farming techniques, such as composting, crop rotation. 💪 Now, through Restless Development alumni networks in Tanzania, Loveness continues to advocate for the environment and educate young people, inspiring them to take active roles in safeguarding their future. #WeAreRestless #YouthPower #YouthPowerHero
