“The customer lunged to headbutt me… I moved store after that because I had a nervous breakdown.” As a new poll reveals a third of shop workers face abuse every week, today we've launched a new campaign and dedicated training to give our retail colleagues the tools to tackle abuse. We’re offering free skills training for anyone working in retail between 12-14 November. https://lnkd.in/eqJBYWM6 By signing up for a free masterclass with the Retail Trust, you will learn valuable skills for managing challenging situations. So sign up now. And tell your colleagues. The more people who share their experiences and talk about customer abuse, the more awareness is raised around the issue and, importantly, the more people can access training and support. We were delighted to hear that our webinars that we held for New Look for menopause awareness made such an impact and made this colleague feel empowered to start having discussions with their mum to find out about her journey. If you'd like to find out more about training options, get in touch, we'd love to hear from you. https://lnkd.in/egtH2CAU #hope #health #happiness #training #menopause #menopauseawareness
This #WomensHealthMonth, we've partnered with Retail Trust and Check4Cancer to bring our colleagues two sessions on health topics that affect women worldwide. Through our Menopause Awareness webinar, we created a supportive space for New Lookers to have open conversations, feel empowered, and know they're supported at work. Here’s what one of our New Lookers shared: "I found the Menopause webinar call captivating! It made me feel empowered to start having discussions with my mum to find out what her journey was like, and how that may impact me. I feel incredibly lucky to work in an organisation where I can educate myself on such important topics.” A huge thank you to Andrea from Retail Trust for being such a wonderful host and making these essential discussions feel approachable and meaningful for our team. #WomensHealth #BreastCancerAwareness #MenopauseAwareness

Such a meaningful day for our team at last week's Retail Trust Leaders Summit! From tackling topics like workplace happiness and strengthening our culture to addressing the pressing issue of front-line abuse against retail staff, this summit brought together leaders with a shared commitment to creating positive change in retail. Thank you to our brilliant Becky Robbins, Ashley Houghton, Claire Stanojevic and Simon O’Brien Dance—for representing FatFace with energy and dedication! Together, we're working toward a brighter future for everyone in retail. #BetterTogether #FatFace #RetailLeadership #CultureMatters #RetailTrust
Such an interesting and inspiring day at the Retail Trust Leaders Summit this week. We covered topics such as workplace happiness, the essential role of culture, as well as the problems we’re all encountering with the front-line abuse against retail staff. As Chris Brook-Carter so perfectly put it: “as an industry we are all better off when we work together” Thanks to my awesome FatFace People Team colleagues Becky Robbins, Ashley Houghton & Simon O’Brien Dance for representing our brand together in our usual energised way. #bettertogether

“I have witnessed rude behaviour. One was a customer who spoke aggressively to a colleague and treated her differently to others. It was our job to reassure her that this was inappropriate. Other times we get drunk people coming into the store and disrespecting colleagues. After situations like this, you notice a colleague’s mood changes for the rest of the day, they take it personally even though it’s not their fault." Sofiia is a store supervisor from London. With our free skills training between 12-14 November, we can provide you and your teams with tools to manage challenging situations, and protect your wellbeing. With ONS releasing their data about shoplifting, Chris Brook-Carter appeared on ITV yesterday. Shoplifting offences have risen to nearly half-a-million offences in the last year and we know that's only half the story when it comes to in-store abuse. That's why training and being equipped with the tools to manage challenging situations can protect your wellbeing. At FatFace, we’re proud to support the Retail Trust’s #RespectRetail campaign. ✊💙 Research shows a significant increase in incidents of customer abuse towards retail workers. The sad truth is: ▪️ 39% are considering leaving their jobs or even the retail industry entirely. ▪️ 80% of shop workers and 90% of store managers have faced abuse on the job. ▪️ 47% are concerned for their safety. ⚠️ These incidents peak around Christmas—a season traditionally centred on kindness and compassion. At FatFace, we’re dedicated to creating a safe environment for our colleagues. By supporting #RespectRetail, we stand together against abuse of any kind and affirm our commitment to respect in retail. 🛍️🤝 #RetailTrust #RespectRetail #Retail #OneCommunity #RetailIndustry

Yesterday, I had the privilege of attending the Retail Trust Leaders' Summit. It was great to step away from the day-to-day to learn about what’s on the minds of retailers, including some challenging topics like the massive increase in levels of abuse. We also explored ways to improve the lives of colleagues working in the industry, and I enjoyed connecting with new people, who are as passionate about wellbeing in the workplace as I am. All the sessions were amazing, but I especially enjoyed the presentation from Mark Price on why the happiest workplaces are the most successful and Colin Ellis’ power talk on how to build a culture of belonging and resilience (his style massively helped uplift the mood just before lunch!) I look forward to next year’s event and to continuing our partnership with the Trust. #RetailLeadership #Wellbeing #WorkplaceCulture

Thankful to have attended Retail Trust Leaders Summit today. Inspiring, thought provoking and moving panels delivered with the passion the retail industry deserves. Too many speakers to mention individually but each and every one contributed to a great day. My main takeaway was how focused we all are on making retail a safe (psychologically and physically) and nurturing space for everyone. This must underpin everything we do day in and day out. Thank you to everyone Retail Trust and the venue staff for making the day what it was. #hope #health #happiness #retail #inclusion #mentalhealth #wellbeing
