Cruise holidays are cool now. That’s right, we’re steering away from the swirly carpeted, forced fun-filled ships of yore and sailing into a new era – one with onboard go-karts, sprawling water parks and tequila-fuelled karaoke bars. Depending on your disposition, both options may sound equally unappealing. Regardless, the new offer on cruise ships means they’re shedding their historical association with older generations and becoming a desirable holiday option for the masses. New data released this month by travel agent Cruise showed that based on 500,000 bookings, the average age for a cruise passenger is 55 – more than 10 years younger than what was recorded in 2019. The under-30s also made up the largest increase in new passengers, with this generation now 14% of total passengers, climbing from 12% last year. So could cruise ships be the next big opportunity for retailers to climb aboard? https://lnkd.in/eR-9FbWH
