Changing consumer behaviors, increasing supply chain cost pressures, and declining profitability are some of the biggest challenges the CPG industry faces today. And while two-thirds of CPG companies have invested in Revenue Growth Management systems these past 5 years, only those that have embedded it into all aspects of the organization see a significant gross margin gain 💹 (as high as 7% in some cases!) In fact, those who invest in capability building at scale are 2.4X more likely to capture and sustain value. So how can companies equip their teams for scalable RGM? And avoid efforts ending up as a one-time initiative? We unpack this and more in our latest blog 👇 https://lnkd.in/e5ybWr2i #RevenueGrowthManagement #CPG #retailtechnology Xander Friedländer

Today is #WorldFoodDay 2024, and this year's theme focuses on the right to food for a better life and a better future. And this got us thinking about the humble markdown sticker (or screen if you leverage ESELs). To some, it signifies a good deal on a food item, to others it marks a necessity to ensure a sale. However, we see it as a force for good. It's very easy to think of a markdown as a channel to shift more products. But it does so much more: 💳 It ensures that cost-conscious shoppers have access to high-value SKUs at more affordable prices. 🌲 The increased chance to sell means that retailers are more likely to reduce waste and improve their carbon footprint. 🗑 Being able to identify products close to expiry and take action, means retailers don't need to bin as much product. 🙏 Having access to the right data, and knowing what's unlikely to shift once a markdown is applied, means you enable charity food donations. Consider that in the US 13.5% (2023) of households experience food insecurity and lack access to a nutritious diet. This was at 14% for the UK as of January 2024. If you can enable greater access to nutritious food through a measure as simple as a markdown sticker, then it certainly feels like a force for good. Some results we have seen that demonstrate these impacts: ♻ Clients have reduced Co2 by 225k tonnes in 2023. 🍲 We saved 2.1 million meals from being wasted for a single cooperative. This is a challenge we all have a role to play in solving and we must work towards ensuring we support those with little access to food security.

Food service has overtaken tobacco as the largest category in convenience stores. 🌯 As we wrap up another successful NACS Show this week, this has been our biggest takeaway. We’ve heard how C-stores are adding global flavors, elevating their coffee brands, creating value bundles and more in attempt to boost sales and attract would-be restaurant customers But while convenience stores seem to be gaining an edge over restaurants when it comes to variety, many still struggle to ensure they have the right products on the shelf at the right times. And with 160 million Americans visiting C-stores every day, ensuring you have the right stock on the shelves is critical. 🔑 It seems that data will be a key tool in unlocking opportunities for C-stores to solve these in-store execution challenges. It’s been an insightful trip and we’re excited to be back next year! (even if it’s mostly for the chance to hang out with Dustin Poirier, Connor McGregor and Kevin Hart) #retailoperations #retailtechnology Chase Smith Melanie Adelhardt

As we head towards the end of Groceryshop 2024 we reflect on what we've experienced at this year's show, outside of the fantastic opportunity to network and interact with new faces, friends, and peers. Some of our key takeaways: 📺 Retail media networks and targeted marketing will play a key role in creating unified in-store and online customer experiences. 🛒 Instacart can now provide in-store targeted marketing for stores with digitised shopping carts. 🥙 Amazon Fresh has completely renovated its in-store formats in the US and will start rolling out the new formats to the UK next year. 🤖 Retail technology innovation continues to impress with a host of new providers and technologies on show, attempting to solve some of retail's biggest challenges. 📊 Data continues to be a key tool in unlocking opportunities for retailers to solve in-store execution challenges. Oh, and we got to demo some of our exciting new ESEL capabilities with our friends at Pricer. Check out one of the features in the video below. We've had a blast and perhaps we will see you next year 😎 #groceryshop #retaildata #retailtechnology Sarah Lansberry Kiana Franklin Nicky Boyle Justin Redak John Paul McNeil

Day 1 of The NACS Show is over and as we gear up for the start of day 2, our team reflected on some of the key takeaways 💡 With people consuming less tobacco and driving more electronic vehicles, convenience stores have to fight harder to drive new sales. But shifting the public image of being seen as a 'gas station' to being seen as a 'store that also sells gas' isn't that simple. Retailers are needing to innovate and we saw a couple of intriguing ways to drive up in-store sales: 1️⃣ One attempted to sell skin care products, but struggled for traction. Once they partnered with a skincare brand, they saw sales boom. 2️⃣ Others have brought elevated coffee brands in-store and pivoted to focusing on their food service experience to drive more revenue. And this is all while still competing with quick service restaurants and big box retailers. It's clear convenience stores are working hard and exploring creative ways to sell more - but if their best products are not on the shelf or in inventory, they still won't reach their targets. If only there existed an AI-driven solution that could rapidly provide highly accurate insights to improve on-shelf availability, inventory replenishment, and unlock labor efficiencies... 😉 #retailoperations #retailanalytics #NACSShow Chase Smith Melanie Adelhardt
