City of Hope is committed to ensuring every patient has equitable access to the expertise and treatment they need to beat cancer, which is why we were proud to participate in #TotalHealth24, where our vice president for government affairs, Joseph Alvarnas, M.D., appeared on the "Advancing Health Equity Goals via Value-Based Programs" panel. Panelists discussed how integrating health equity principles into value-based care programs will help ensure equitable access and tailored interventions for vulnerable populations and reduce disparities in health care outcomes. Thank you, Reuters Events Healthcare, for elevating this important conversation.

Really enjoyed the opportunity to sit down at Reuters Events Healthcare #TotalHealth24 with moderator Edward Mitchell, MBA and fellow panelists Nancy Beran MD MHCDS FACP, Tammer Attallah, MBA, LCSW, and Visar Tasimi to discuss why payer and provider alignment on quality metrics is so critical. Harmonization of quality metrics is critical to administrative simplification for practices. Removing the administrative complexity should be a valient goal in and of itself, but as we think about where the healthcare system needs to go to maintain sustainability we recognize that this tactic can be a important lever to drive deepened engagement in #ValueBasedCare. At Humana, we've shown that #ValueBasedCare leads to lower costs, while maintaining or improving quality, decreasing unnecessary care, increasing preventative care and chronic care management, increases investment in primary care and communities, and moves our system from a sickcare system to a system that maintains and sustains health. Quality metrics are the gateway into building the infrastructure and operational tools and processes needed to practice #ValueBasedCare, and if we align and make quality measures easier to do, we will get more practices building that muscle that's needed to move deeper in #VBC.

Adapting to Survive: Lessons Learned from Our Panel Discussion I had a fantastic time discussing the future of healthcare, technology adoption and implementation with my fellow panelists, Ravi Chawla Vice President and Chief Analytics Officer, Independence Blue Cross, Bradley Crotty MD MPH Chief Digital Officer at Froedtert Health, Katie Webb VP, Innovation & Digital Experience at Aflac, at the recent Reuters Events Healthcare Total Health 2024 event in Chicago. Thank you also to the Aidin team for sponsoring this panel including our expert moderator Chief of Growth David Caldwell and Head of Sales Gordon Rosen We explored the critical skill gaps in today's healthcare workforce, the importance of a continuous learning culture, and effective change management strategies. Key takeaways: Digital and data literacy is essential: We must do a better job of making training and education accessible in this period of rapid change. We must invest in not only new technology but also our people if we are going to be able to deploy technology thoughtfully, in a trusted fashion and at scale. AI and technology will scale at the speed of trust. Effective change management is crucial: Implementing changes smoothly with data and effective storytelling can minimize disruptions and resistance.
