At the picturesque coastal location of Thornham in North Norfolk, work is well under way on the next Phase at St George’s Court to build two further homes for our client Bullen Developments. Having completed five homes at the same location at the end of 2022, we are now delivering these beautiful private homes with the support of the design services of Carter Design Group, in the same traditional style. Work started in April, with brick and flint work now up to first floor height and floor trusses being installed very soon. By Christmas, the team hope to be watertight.

One of our employees, Carl Offer, has bravely taken on the One Million steps challenge for Diabetes UK, equivalent of walking from Land’s End to John O’Groats! As a diabetic himself, this challenge is not just a personal test of endurance and commitment, it’s a chance to contribute to a cause that directly impacts his own life and the lives of millions of others.    By participating, Carl hopes to inspire people in the diabetic community to stay active and healthy, and to highlight the significance of regular physical activity in managing diabetes. This challenge is his way of giving back and making a difference.   Since the start of July, Carl has already covered over 400,000 steps with his family, including his young daughter who likes to join in!   We wish Carl luck in his challenge and as always are very proud of our R G Carter employees who give up their time to help those in need. At the Primary School in Beaulieu, the team are in their last week before hand over. All-hands-are-on-deck completing decoration and flooring internally and the final hard landscaping and planting requirements that surround this new Net Zero facility for Essex County Council.   The Thermowood cladding using sustainable timber, has now been attached to the façade, creating a striking pattern which is replicated further down the building in black brick. Behind our team you can also see the canopy for the main entrance where they will be erecting the name of the school which will mark the near completion of this much-needed education facility. This milestone for Michaelmas Court was also attended by representatives from Thurston Relief In Need Charity, Osbornes and Thurston Parish Council, all gathering on the first floor scaffolding for a speech and to view the now completed areas of roof. This Suffolk based scheme will provide 54 extra care units, apartments and bungalows for older people, with on-site care for residents if required, creating a flagship development to showcase the very best that Extra Care Living has to offer. At Manea Primary School near March, we are working on the expansion of the existing primary school and pre-school to provide extra classrooms and a larger sports hall space. Our team can be seen here stood under the impressive brick archway which forms the entrance into the existing sports hall, built in 1999, to which they are adding an extension for additional storage space. This community school was originally built in 1901 and has been expanded many times over the years to cope with the ever-growing population and changing trends in education. The team will now leave the next legacy of enhancements to the school when they complete early next year. The project is under the Cambridgeshire County Council Design and Build Contractor Framework. We were delighted to hear that Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council have received a Green Flag Award for the award-winning Oakhill Cemetery and Crematorium, we proudly delivered in Hatfield. The news that Oak Hill has achieved this accreditation - the international quality mark for parks and green spaces - is testament to the hard work and dedication of the teams that care for this green space which surrounds the new crematorium building, including the new landscaped flower and water gardens which R G Carter installed as part of the new tranquil green space.
