Clementine Blakemore creates an inclusive and accessible rural retreat at Wraxall Yard in Dorset. Shortlisted for the Stirling Prize, this dairy farm has been sensitively repaired and converted into highly accessible holiday accommodation, with public spaces aimed at boosting engagement with wildlife and farming. Motivated by frustration at the standard of available wheelchair accessible accommodation across the UK, the development offers extensive yet discreet accessible features, providing disabled guests – particularly wheelchair users – with a high degree of independence. ⏯️ Explore this year’s shortlisted projects in our new films, as we take an exclusive look behind the scenes and hear from the teams involved: https://ow.ly/vxXR50TIN4Y ✨ The countdown is on for this year’s Stirling Prize, the biggest night in architecture. Have you ever thought about being a RIBA Awards judge? If you have but never been sure how to go about it, the application window for judges is open until October 27th. RIBA is looking for applications for Architect, Lay Person, Conservation and Sustainability advisor roles. And yes, as you’d expect, most of the judges are architects, but there’s also the Lay Person judging role route for those of us who aren’t architects but have an interest in architecture. You know, those of us that understand the ins and outs of how the industry and sector works. I was a judge in 2023 RIBA Awards, and it was a really enjoyable and rewarding process. I not only got to see so many fantastic buildings, but I contributed a lot, learnt a lot too plus got to network with some fabulous judges and architects in South West London so definitely a win all round. There are roles up and down the country, and in London they get so many entries that they split it into five areas. I've tagged a few people in the comments who I know were previous judges to share their experiences. Find out more here https://lnkd.in/e7XzJHtE #marketing #builtenvironment #architects

Mikhail Riches creates a modern energy-efficient environment softened with thoughtful planting and subtle colours in a heritage-conscious approach for Brutalist landmark Park Hill. Shortlisted for the Stirling Prize, the second phase of an ongoing regeneration of Europe’s largest listed structure sits on a prominent hillside overlooking Sheffield City Centre. Internal spaces are modernised through open plan designs and the addition of balconies, while thermal imaging has allowed sustainability experts to identify and improve energy efficiency. A fresh colour palette referencing the nearby Peak District blends with the estate's original concrete, preserves its design heritage, while tree and wildflower plantings cleverly soften the exterior. ⏯️ Explore this year’s shortlisted projects in our new films, as we take an exclusive look behind the scenes and hear from the teams involved: https://ow.ly/2xjz50TGJvw ✨ The countdown is on for this year’s Stirling Prize, the biggest night in architecture.
