I’m really excited to be hosting the RIBA Stirling Prize for the second year in a row this Wednesday! It’s such an honour to celebrate the best in architecture alongside some of the industry’s most talented people. Following in the footsteps of Stephen Fry and Kevin McCloud still feels surreal. This year’s shortlist is seriously impressive: 🏡 Chowdhury Walk – Al-Jawad Pike’s stunning social housing in Hackney, showing how thoughtful design can elevate everyday living. 🚇 The Elizabeth Line – A massive achievement by Grimshaw, Maynard, Equation & AtkinsRéalis, making London’s transport system even better. 🌆 King’s Cross Masterplan – Allies and Morrison & Porphyrios Associates have transformed this part of London into a lively, dynamic space over the past 20 years. 🎨 National Portrait Gallery – Jamie Fobert Architects & Purcell have given new life to this iconic gallery, with brilliant modern touches and greater accessibility. 🏙️ Park Hill Phase 2 – Mikhail Riches continues to breathe life into Sheffield’s Brutalist landmark, balancing heritage with modern needs. 🌳 Wraxall Yard – Clementine Blakemore Architects transformed an old Dorset farm into a welcoming, fully accessible retreat. Looking forward to another unforgettable evening celebrating these remarkable projects! Clementine Blakemore creates an inclusive and accessible rural retreat at Wraxall Yard in Dorset. Shortlisted for the Stirling Prize, this dairy farm has been sensitively repaired and converted into highly accessible holiday accommodation, with public spaces aimed at boosting engagement with wildlife and farming. Motivated by frustration at the standard of available wheelchair accessible accommodation across the UK, the development offers extensive yet discreet accessible features, providing disabled guests – particularly wheelchair users – with a high degree of independence. ⏯️ Explore this year’s shortlisted projects in our new films, as we take an exclusive look behind the scenes and hear from the teams involved: https://ow.ly/vxXR50TIN4Y ✨ The countdown is on for this year’s Stirling Prize, the biggest night in architecture. Stay tuned for the unveiling of the UK’s best new architecture on 16 October. #StirlingPrize is sponsored by Autodesk
