What's happening in the housing market? 🏡 👉 Asking prices rise by £1,199 this month to £371,958. This is much lower than the average seasonal 1.3% monthly increase at this time of year. Our property expert Timothy Bannister says: "Affordability is still the biggest barrier facing many movers, with mortgage rates still high, so if the expected two cuts come to fruition, it could be the boost that many buyers-in-waiting need."

A huge shoutout to Si Jobling, who has the most volunteering hours this month! ⭐️ Just last week, Si led a 2-hour interview prep session with post-grads, sharing valuable insights on what the tech industry truly looks for and how to best prepare for that crucial first round of interviews. Rightmove has partnered with On Hand, which enables Rightmovers to easily find many different volunteering opportunities, that can be completed both in person and remotely. Record high rents as landlords brace for budget impact 📈 👉 Average rents outside London are up 5.2% from last year, reaching £1,344 PCM. While available rental properties are up 13% and supply remains 27% below 2019 levels, keeping pressure on the market. 👉 We hope to see measures from the government, either in the Budget or near future, that would encourage landlords to stay in the market, and help them with the transition to greener homes, providing much-needed homes for tenants. Our Property Expert Timothy Bannister says: "Affordability remains a challenge, but incentives for energy-efficient upgrades or tax relief could help maintain rental supply and ease affordability pressures."

Rightmove Regatta 2024 ⛵️ 💚 👉 Last month we set sail with our partners on our third annual charity regatta, where we took to the seas of the Solent with 42 of our partners who took part in an epic battle to the finish line, all in support of various charities chosen by them! 👉 We are proud to announce that £35,000 will be donated to different charities of our partner's choice. Our 2024 Green Home Report is out today! 🏡 25% of all CO2 emissions come from the built environment and construction - that's why we're on a mission to give everyone the belief they can go greener, by exploring the current challenges, highlighting key actions and discussing the growing 'green wealth divide'. Key insight 💡 Over the past year, we found that 50% of £1 million plus properties had significantly improved their rating since their previous EPC. This compares with only 32% of properties worth under £400,000. Our property expert Timothy Bannister says: "Although some progress has been made, these improvements aren’t being made at scale, and a relatively small sub-section of the market has emerged as the one making the changes."
