Our Renovation Calculator is here! 👷♂️🔨 🏠 This new tool is an enhancement to Rightmove’s Instant Valuation tool. 🏠 Once people receive an instant valuation of a property’s price, they now have the option to add in completed or planned renovation works to that property and to see how much value could be added. Our Director of Product James Bassil says: "We’re really pleased to utilise our market leading property data to bring people this innovative functionality."

What's happening in the housing market? 🏠 📈 The average asking price of a home has risen by 0.8%, which is double the seasonal average. The average asking price of a home is now £370,759, almost £3,000 since last month. 🏠 Enquiries to estate agents are up 15% compared to last year in 2023 and the number of sales agreed is up 27% compared to the same period last year. 🏠 Despite this, the market remains cautious with it taking an average of 60 days for sellers to find a buyer. This shows that buyers are taking their time to find the home that’s right for them. Our property expert Timothy Bannister says: "With affordability still very stretched for many, choosy buyers are taking their time to browse the increased number of homes for sale and find the perfect home at the right price."

The famously “unlucky” date of Friday 13th is back!🚪🐈⬛ 👉 Friday is typically the busiest day for completions, but when we looked at all Friday 13ths back to 1995, this famously unlucky day has come out as the least popular Friday to move. 👉 We last saw Friday 13th fall in October 2023, when we found that number 13 homes were valued around £5,000 lower on average. 👉 Almost a year on, we’re seeing exactly the same price trend play out, with door number 13 again valued at £5,000 less. Jeremy Clarkson’s new pub 'The Farmer’s Dog' spikes searches for Cotswolds town! 🏠 👉 The 24th of August, the day after the pub’s opening, saw the highest number of searches for homes for sale in Burford in over a year. 👉 Across the pub’s opening Bank Holiday weekend, the number of searches for homes for sale in Burford was 63% higher than the same period a year ago. Rightmove Gone Wild! 🏕️☀️ We were joined by over 30 of our partners alongside their loved ones from all over the UK to have a family adventure like no other. We know juggling family life and work can be a challenge, especially in the summer holidays and that's why we created an event that focused on family inclusion. This event was coordinated by Bear Grylls SAS right hand man Scott Heffield. What's happening in the housing market? 🏠 📉 Average asking prices see a seasonal drop of 1.5% (-£5,708) this month to £367,785. We've continued to see a seasonal month-on-month dip in asking prices from July to August for the last 18 years. 🏠 The number of buyers enquiring about homes for sale on Rightmove, increased by 11% compared to July 2023. But since the first Base Rate cut in four years was announced, we’ve seen demand jump even further, and it’s currently 19% higher than the same time a year ago.
