“Other nations have already begun to introduce #roadpricing models successfully, and we should be learning from them," said Sir John Armitt, chairman of the UK’s National Infrastructure Commission. And the #UK, among so many others, can – at Akabo Media's global series of Road User Charging Conferences in #Brussels, #Miami, #AbuDhabi and #Singapore! Each of these events bring together key public and private sector stakeholders from countries across the world to share their experiences of how user-financed transportation models – including #tolling, #pricing, and #roadusercharging – can replace traditional #funding mechanisms and enhance #transportation #infrastructure, improve #roadsafety, reduce #traffic #congestion and support wider #sustainability initiatives and #decarbonisation efforts. Attend a Road User Charging Conference in 2025 and learn from nations that have already successfully rolled out user-financed transportation models to improve their road networks in the face of declining #fuelduty and #vehicleexciseduty revenues caused by increasingly fuel-efficient vehicles and continued uptake of #electricvehicles. Learn more at about all four events at https://lnkd.in/erQZvWMB and contact at john.thornton@akabomedia.co.uk and ross.sturley@akabomedia.co.uk to have a conversation about how these highly focused #conferences can help you to bolster your knowledge and make invaluable connections. It was truly a pleasure to chair Road User Charging Conference #AsiaPacific 2024 in #Singapore this week, where we gathered insights from a stellar array of public and private-sector #transportation experts across the region, including #India, #Indonesia, #Maylasia, #Bangladesh, the #Philippines, #Australia, #Azerbaijan, #Vietnam, and beyond! Indeed, the diversity of perspectives and approaches to user-fianced transportation made the event a true hub of knowledge-sharing, as well as one tailor-made for generating new and interesting business leads. Some of the key themes explored over the last two days included the integration of next-generation #mobility solutions, the role of #RUC and #pricing in enabling #sustainabletransport, and how different regions are addressing the challenges of environmental #sustainability, #roadsafety and #interoperability. A particularly important focus was on #legislation and #financing models. Many of this year’s speakers discussed how their countries are navigating complex #regulatoryframeworks to enable the adoption of #tolling and #roadusagecharging systems, and how #assetmonetisation models, such as #PPPs, are emerging as a vital component in implementing and scaling these initiatives. The need for clear legislative direction and sustainable financial structures was a recurring theme across many of the sessions. And while #APAC very much remains an emerging market in the realm of user-financed transportation, it is one undoubtedly full of potential. One has only to observe what’s happening in India, with its transition to #GNSS-based toiling, to appreciate the scale of the opportunity. And yet, the challenges in a number of Asia Pacific countries are undeniable and significant - ranging from legislative readiness and technological implementation to financing limitations and dire road safety issues. I look forward to seeing how the insights and collaboration from this year’s #conference may help the APAC region overcome some of these barriers and unlock future #innovations when the event returns to Singapore on October 01-02, 2025! #RUCAPAC24 #RUCAPAC25
