About us

Follow in the footsteps of one of world’s greatest poets at our tranquil riverside location near Dumfries in Scotland. Ellisland Farm is the place where Robert Burns wrote Auld Lang Syne, Tam o Shanter and a quarter of his entire creative output. The first marital home of Burns and Jean Armour, Ellisland was built especially for them and is the most authentic and best preserved of all the bard's surviving homes. Admire the view of the Nith from the Spence (parlour) where many of his greatest works were penned, and soak in the unique atmosphere which has barely changed since 1788. Our Museum has a collection of Burns's personal possessions and manuscripts. We hold regular events in the atmospheric farmstead, including concerts.
